Greendale, Ind.) – Federal prosecutors want to see the records of the City of Greendale.
Last week, the Greendale Clerk-Treasurer Mary Jo “Joey” Lynch, Mayor Doug Hedrick, and City Council President Al Abdon each received a grand jury subpoena in United States District Court in Indianapolis.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett requests the city turn over loan and grant records ranging from today through January 1, 2007.
The records will encompass the city, the Greendale Redevelopment Commission, the Greendale Economic Redevelopment Commission, and the Greendale Board of Works. The loan and grant documents requested in the subpoena include a summary list of all loans and grants, application documentation, approval documentation, promissory notes, disbursement records, and payment records
The subpoena commands that the clerk-treasurer submit the documents at the U.S. Courthouse in Indianapolis on Tuesday, June 18 at 9:00 a.m.
Lynch told Eagle 99.3 Thursday that she received the subpoena last Friday, June 7. She said she and her staff are now working to have the documents ready by the deadline.
“It’s a lot,” Lynch said, referring to the copious amounts of documentation requested.
It is unclear what the federal authorities may be investigating. Lynch said she had no idea why the documents are being requested for a federal grand jury.
The City of Lawrenceburg received a similar subpoena last December. It contained very similar language in asking for copies of the city’s grant and loan records dating back to 2007, indicating that the two subpoenas could perhaps be related to the same investigation.
Thursday afternoon phone calls to Mayor Doug Hedrick and City Attorney Richard Butler seeking comment were not returned.
