How frightening to experience a thing like jail with uncertainty if you may not be one of the guilty ones. Add not knowing the language to that fear. You are right about your points of "what if it were you". I could picture this happening to any of us who are perhaps at a party and somebody there is doing a drug deal or other.
Not defending the illegal alien issue at all, but some of these people are just trying to support their families and I would guess that some are above board.
