They may have lived local, but they are not your typical local resident that boosts the economy with the income that they receive. I don't call that a local resident. I call that a visitor to the community.

Did they pay local taxes? Did they shop locally? How much did they actually purchase at local businesses? How much did they pay in utilities and other normal expenses? They all lived in just a few homes. When you have 10-20 people living in one apartment, the expenses are very little. They did keep Walmart's Western Union wire service in business. I have been in line at customer service behind a group several times as they each wired money to Mexico. From what I heard it was a nightly routine.

Don't get me wrong...I thought they were great workers and the customer service was excellent. I just don't think they ever had intentions of becoming "locals". I figured the money wiring and living all in one apartment was because they would rotate due to work visa's. Stay here until the visa was up and then move back to Mexico while a new group moved here. I am not sure how the visa stuff works, but I have always heard 6 months or a year and they had to go back. I always figured that some where breaking the rules and were illegal because I had seen them longer than that. That is why I said I knew some where illegal. It was obvious that some were not legal.

The staff is/was hard working and I always felt they were trying to help their families back home. I admire all of them for that. I just wish they had taken the legal way of doing it. After reading the affidavit is appears that income was under reported by an estimated $7-14 million for just the locations listed. If you think about the Ohio and Kentucky locations they were involved with, they could have built the Event Center for Lawrenceburg with the money that they didn't report as revenue...and that was just the last four years. They have been in business more than 10 years.

I really liked Adolfo. I have meet Benito and didn't think he was as nice. Adolfo had become a local resident and blended with the community or at least appeared to. I truly thought that he was just turning a blind eye to the status of some employees. I would have never guessed this. I was also saddened when I read the affadavit and saw that his wife listed. I am sure she knew things were not on the up and up, but it is always sad when both parents are arrested for a crime and leave the children to suffer from it.
