Subject: What a shame the O'Mordha feis once again this year has such a bad press. We went last year the competition ran more than 4 hours late, there were no apologies from the organisers, Canteen was very very poor and the entry fee was a disgrace. Would've thought that the organisers could have made much more effort this year. I'm so glad we decided not to attend again this year. We are used to feis running late but come on at least most of the other feis try their best to make things better year after year, but it seems the organisers at O'Mordha haven't learnt their lesson.

[> was horrified to read some of the problems with this feis, luckily dd isn't getting regular recalls yet so we keep to local feis and after what I've read I'm grateful for that. Like everyone I've been to many feis that have run late, sometimes just half hour and so far, the worst has been 2hrs. Each time there has been appologies made for any delays, so I can't understand these feis organisers not having the manners to do the same. I'm feel sorry for all those who attended, not just for the delays, but mention is being made of very questionable results. Not having attended this feis I wouldn't comment on that part, but I would expect to hear soon a good reason for the delays. I should think that many people will really seriously consider whether to ever attend this feis again, maybe then if the numbers go down enough the organisers will realise that people will not continue accepting treatment like this especially at an ordinary feis -- wishwillow, Mon, Feb 26 2007, 15:28:18 [1]

[> My friend and i went with our daughters last year, and there were seriously questionable results including my own daughter who won by the way. My friends daughter didn't win. But last year a lot of people had the same complaints and it seems that the organisers have totally disregarded last years complaints so I can't see them taking any notice this year. My daughter shouldn't have won, in my humble opionion, and she kmew it herself but what do you do tell the judges they are blind. me thinks not. My daughter herself knew she didn't dance her best. -- op, Mon, Feb 26 2007, 17:23:21 [1]

[> They don't have to apologise for it...they're in astrong position knowing that not many TCs are going to complain because of the 'status' of the organiser this year. Wonder tho' how many will return next year? Sashes were cheap rubbish compared to their usual embroidered ones. £22 entry fee, £4 entrance and £3 marks did certainly not justify the prizes! -- UKmum, Tue, Feb 27 2007, 15:06:27 [1]

[> [> [> Des wasn't doing the results at O'Mordha it was someone using MCGL Webbies Feismark pack...think it was someone affiliated with the Morgan school, saw him running around with marks. So unless the results are sent to Des, can't see how they'll be on his site :oS -- NW mother, Sat, Mar 03 2007, 1:33:31 [1]

[> Can I ask who you think the organisers of this feis were? The ladies on the door taking your £4? The ladies on the entry desk taking your feis entry? The ladies in the canteen? No, the organisers were Stella and her daughter Joanne, all the other people helping were just parents of the school giving up their own free time to help out. This was a pay on the day feis, the numbers for most age groups were large, anyone who regularly attends feis' know they never run to time, even the pay in advance onPlease can you also clarify for me what "status" the organiser has??? I thought she was just another ADCRG, TCRG!!!es. -- Or is there something I'm missing?, Sat, Mar 03 2007, 11:31:11 [1]

[> [> Ermmmm perhaps the fact that Stella's adjudicating the Worlds this year explains why the feis had more dancers from further afield than usual! AND it wasn't just parents from the school helping. There was a very well know NW TC doing the MCing and someone affiliated to her school seemingly doing the results. If he wasn't he was back and forth with the results sheets! The running behind time of a PoTD feis is beyond anyones control, but the running of the comps and splitting them into silly age groups with 2 contestants is! -- NW mother, Sat, Mar 03 2007, 19:05:40 [1]

[> I think if you look at the results from last year you will see lots of dancers from "further afield", and Stella wasn't judging the Worlds last year. As the Op said in her original post, last years feis ran more than 4 hours late, again, this was due to the high number of entries.Maybe the high number of entries was due to this being the only feis on this date? -- ????, Sun, Mar 04 2007, 16:14:23 [1]

[> [> Well the ACDC school have been attending this feis for the last couple of years but the friendship between both TC's is well known. Kenny Academy usually attend too...but there were more schools from London this year and more per age group, in the younger ages especially that have never been seen before. 30 in the u14's n 15's is about 10 or more than this feis usually draws. Have attended every year for 10 years so think I know when the competition is growing and can hazard a guess at why!! I wish people would take their heads out of the sand and SEE what's going on, not just at this feis, but all over ID. -- NW mother, Sun, Mar 04 2007, 23:45:15 [1]

[> [> [> sorry if this is a stupid question, but wondering why the competition is growing and what is going on at feis and ID in general. Would appeciate knowing from someone more experienced. -- wishwillow, Mon, Mar 05 2007, 0:52:07 [1]

[> [> [> [> Quite honestly it'd take too long in a post on an ID board. Suffice to say that there is and probably always will be underhandedness in ID. Why we stay in it, heaven knows, I guess in the hope that at some point things will change. People will say there's nothing wrong, and it's those people who need to pull their heads out of the sand, look around and see what's happening. Last years BN's and all the posts pertaining to it were evidence enough that 'Something is indeed, rotten, in ID' -- NW Mother, Mon, Mar 05 2007, 1:27:20 [1]

[> [> [> [> [> Hey Nw mum, totally agree we stay in hoping that things will change, and as the saying goes you can't change it if you're not in it. There's HUGE corruption in ID as may I say in most organisations, nothing is perfect, As adults I think most of us are extremely sceptical howver when youn children start noticing. There's a MAJOR problem. Let's talk about the Europeans, It's a long and EXPENSIVE feis to go to, yet every year people go and complain, but they still go, nothing against the organisers but WHO is reaping the benfefits? -- just me, Mon, Mar 05 2007, 1:37:50 [1]
