Date Posted: 29/05/08 12:16pm In reply to: Hector McLean AB 's message, "Re: FAMOUS SEAMEN" on 29/05/08 5:47am you're a stickler for accuracy.I knew when I wrote it that the(I think) negated the word Legend.Perhaps I should have written ,it was a well known fact. The reason for my doubt of the ship's name being : in that time frame .mid-fifties I made a number of trips on the Winchester and Capetown. On rejoining the Capetown Castle(I think,)(more than ever sure ,now.)as I can only recall being with Captain Lloyd on the Capetown. Did about eight trips with him.as A.B. or Q M. The event described did take place. There were probably about a few hundred crew who could attest to the fact. That's a lot of hear say. Any comment forthcoming re. the entertaining on the Winchester's Well Deck or perhaps the Mauretania event in New York? Like most genuine seamen. I don.t have to B.S. But I do apologise if I don't meet your standards of literacy. B.S. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
