Although this was not at 11.00. Just extremely interested, would like to know more. Can anyone elaborate on why poppies should not have petals. Genuine interest and not wanting to enter an argument. But seek enlightment. Also found the following that suggests poppy petals mean a lot to many : Poppy Drop at the NI Airshow NEXT month's NI International Airshow in Portrush will witness the world's largest biplane dropping two million poppy petals over the spectators as part of a commemoration service marking the 25th anniversary of the South Atlantic conflict. The free two day event, on Saturday and Sunday, September 8-9, organised by Coleraine Borough Council and sponsored by the Kennedy Group, will feature the Red Arrows, the latest Eurofighter Typhoon and 20 other aircraft including a Strikemaster, a Messerschmitt and The Blades display team. The highlight for many is the Sunday afternoon commemoration service on the beach featuring a drumhead parade led by the Royal Irish Regiment Band and North of Ireland TA Staff Band. Standard bearers, veterans and relatives form the accompanying parade. During the two minute silence the Antonov AN2 will fly slowly over the crowd and release the poppy petals just before the astonishing arrival of the Eurofighter Typhoon, the latest and noisiest jet deployed by the RAF.
