Date Posted: 31/10/07 1:02pm In reply to: Linda- Honorory Shipmate 's message, "BP Pensions" on 24/10/07 11:14pm In one of the Clubs the other day.In the company ,were a couple of other seamen .We were told the story of one of the Members.now in his eighties.Goes like this !:He was born & brought up in the Falkland Islands.Went to sea at an early age.Went to sea on British ,U.S. Aussie ships.Went all through the War.Russian convoys etc.The lot.Finished up Bosun ,out here.on the Coast.struggling now on the meagre Pension .Can't seem to get any sort of financial recognition though ,from any of the countries mentioned .To prove I wasn't "talking through the beer " indicated that I would air it on this great Site of Brian's .With the hope that one of the many informed contributors ,could perhaps come up with some way of approaching the Bureaucracy in order to show some compassion.Thank you for your time.
