g'day all. this statement keeps cropping up on these forums
gravesend!! Deck department?. i left gravesend S.S. in jan 1948 there was no deck department. we as catering had also to learn how to launch and sail a lifeboat and had to learn all parts of the lifeboat including stores and sails. but that was it. cheers alf.
