Yes they were something one had to have at Sea,and i recall one i had,being a combination Radio/Record Player with 4 speeds if i remember correctly it was a Dansette ? not sure on the spelling,it was Red and looked like a small suitcase with a carry handle,that was my pride and joy for quite a long time.
Many happy hours spent listening to the Radio and the Records.
After that i got an Emmerson (Yank job) and that too was a nice piece.
