Date Posted: 17/04/08 12:05pm In reply to: John Strange 's message, "Re: HMAS Sydney has been found" on 18/03/08 5:52am After watching the ''The finding of the Sydney'' it`seems that Glen was right the Captain of the Kormorant did put his ship and the Sydneys position in a book and the search ship went straight to her and found her in two days.The torpedo that hit the bow section was launched from the kormorant.What I can`t understand is why the Sydney came in so close and broadside on,perhaps the Captain of the Sydney did`nt know that the Gerry was venturing so far east and really did think that the Kormorant was a dutch merchantman.I suppose no one will ever know the truth ,and being as it was war the powers that be of that time would not divulge any info.At least there is now closure for all families.PJ in Ozz.
