Hi Hugh.
Thank you for your help.

Your information was correct. I do have a bit historical information re the “Iceland” formerly of the Currie Line of Leith. She was NO 1167034, 2,896 grt and built at Dundee 1943 sold in 1956 to the Shamrock Shipping Co and renamed the Moyle. In 1979, after a collision in the Pirucus Roads, she was scrapped at Eleusis Greece.

I joined her at Immingham in November 1953, sailed to Rotterdam then on to a 10 month contract for the Moxey Savon Co of New York, trading on the East Coast of America. I paid off Hull August 1954.

Currie line was sold the company to the Anchor Line in the 70s, and then in 1995 after a management purchase, they passed on control to the Mersey Docks & Harbour Co
That’s about as much info I have.

To day, I’ve already written to the National Maritime Museum Greenwich and Guildhall Library Lloyds Maritime collection at Aldermanbury as suggested by Vernon.
Maybe I’ve picked you up wrong, but is it the National archives you suggest I write to, if so do you have their e-mail address?
Cheers Frank
