One for the Ginger beers. To avoid a collision in the channel, an old T2 I was on, went from full ahead to full astern in one go, Nearly shook itself to death.
Later the old chief, reckoned that just stopping the prop would create enough drag to stop the ship faster.
Often wonder if he was right?? Cheers, from a sunny and not windy N.E Albi.
