Date Posted: 11/03/08 12:36am In reply to: Hugh 's message, "Re: FURTHER REQUEST FOR HELP." on 6/03/08 8:43pm Thanks Hugh, have been away hence delay in response. Will look into this further and thanks again for your reply. It does make me wonder that someone else could have been in part of the forces and never seen any real action, but an accident etc may have given "WAR GRAVE STATUS" A Merchant Seaman however, may have gone through WW1 and still served in WWII, Survived several sinkings, weeks in rafts and no pay once a ship went down etc, but would not have been commemorated if he died accidently. An RAF pilot can have a mention if he died in a car crash, Royal Naval personnel, commemorated although he died from an accident virtually at home, a member of the Army whillst on leave - but, a Merchant Seaman, could have just returned from a trip where his ship was sunk or he saved lives during an attack etc, but due to an accident in port. He will not be commemorated. Sounds Harsh and NOT just. Keith. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
