Date Posted: 15/01/08 10:51am In reply to: George Mugridge 's message, "Re: nostalgia" on 14/01/08 3:12pm Hey George matey I remember old shanghie Red.Me and me mate Davy had just come off the Saxonia and we decided that because we had few bob we`d ship out straight away,so round to the terminus and up to the counter and old Red says I got just the job for you to lads ,oh yeh what`s that then.He says cruiseing round the Channel Islands,never heard of them,well anyways we got shanged and down to Weymouth on the train and across to Jersey on the Sarnia.Well the best job I`ve ever had for money.Because one of us had to serve the grunters the chief steward an old scouse,Wacker Payne one of the best fellers I`ve ever met he give us one of the best tables and a great fiddle,them days on the channel boats they paid cash for the meals.7 for the company one each for us and one for him.We went back for another season after doing a few on the Mary.The Brittany was the ship that changed our lives.I could go on matey because we had such great times I could you tell many stories about them 2 years ha ha .Peter keeping the dream alive.
