In Alberta we are not requires to have an official licence (number) plate on the front of our vehicles, only need one at the rear. So many drivers have plates with team logo's, phrases, flags etc. I had one made with the red ensign. I was constantly getting asked why I was flying the old Canadian flag. I explained that it was in fact the Red Ensign. The flag flown by the Merchant Navy. Next question was usually " what is the Merchant Navy ?" I would then go on to explain what the MN is all about.
