I have not seen this mentioned too much, but our favorite Miss America's daughter (tied with Diana Dreman of course!) Hilary Levey Friedman wrote a book about pageantry. I read her other book, and I can attest to how much work she puts into research. Her new book is called Here She Is: The Complicated Reign of the Beauty Pageant in Society. It is available at all major book services. I just ordered mine and will post a full review!

I am looking forward to this because she is giving a well-balanced approach to the prizes and perils of pageantry. Hilary is a great asset to the pageant community. She was not really embraced much by the MAO, but that might be to her benefit right now. I have always liked her and appreciate her commentary. If there was someone in life that I wished I could be friends with if we knew each other in person, it would be her. LOL this is not a paid testimonial. I have only seen and read her posts and read her Twitter account, but she loves pageants as much as we do. More importantly, I think she has always provided a well-rounded approach to the fair criticism but embraces pageantry.
