Subject: Safety

I was reading some of the lower post about NHRA and IHRA rules and the Hill being a outlaw track. Regardless whether the Hill is outlaw there should be guidlines that the racers should follow. It does not have to follow the sanction bodies rules but common sense. I have seen drivers nipping on there booze before getting in the car (maybe this is there way of getting ready) but that is not a good idea. The cars that are running in the 5 second range are cars that will run in the 8 second range in the quarter, these drivers should be wearing jackets and pants. there are a lot just wearing shorts and t shirts. NOT SMART. There should be some inspection to check if the cars have drive shaft loops, fuel cell mounting, rubber hoses in proper lenght, seat belts, wheel lugs, battery hold downs, cages required on cars that run a certain ET, window nets, etc. yes I know the hill is an outlaw track. this does not mean you should run anything or any kind of way. This just means that it is not sanctioned by any of the governed sanction bodies. I love the Hill, I can remember it back to the sixties and glad to see it in action again. I also give Ken and crew credit for working so hard to keep it alive. SIDE

Alfred said it better than I could have. I do agree that some sort of tech is great. The only thing I was saying was about having my stuff certified. I for one would not make a pass without my harness, helment, and suit on. Like I have said before, I am friends with most people out at the HILL and don't want to see anyone get hurt. I have to admit, I was a little lax on a few things but now that my son is fixing to start making passes I look at things a little different.

WOP racing is also legal. What would make me unlegal to you other than I don't have the license? Or since this post originally wasn't about being legal but safe, what do you think makes me unsafe? I have not problem changing something if it makes it safer.
