As she sat down, he could not help watch her. Everything about the woman was beauty-from the tips of those Prada covered toes on up. And the air of confidence that she always carried...it made her seem somehow regal. As she spoke about doing as she pleased, he could not help but allow a tiny grin to surface. She was damned straight about that...there'd never be any stopping her from what she wanted. He had no doubts it would be the same way if she'd been born human. He didn't know why he felt a flicker of shock when said she'd checked in on him. It wasn't the way he'd ever wanted her to see him, but it warmed his him somehow to know she'd care enough to try.

"I didn't know that you were there." His eyes roamed hers, taking in the surreal reality of her being there, right next to him. "Thanks for lookin' out for the others. Sphinx would be the one to almost kill himself. Man's been half in love with death his whole damn life." He took a drink, letting the burn of the liquid swish in his mouth a moment before swallowing it. "I made a deal. With the Feds. The group of asshole back in Chicago started turinin' perv. Bringing girls barely into their teens around their headquarters...Freb sent me a letter about it. Good thing I knew where headquarters was." He smirked. "I get to enjoy parole til I'm dead, most likely...but I think the crew's safe." He finished off his drink and put the empty glass on the bar, denying another when the bartender asked. He was embarrassed he was feeling it after only one. "What else have you been up to? Besides checkin' on on your jerk of a man and his jerk friends?" He gave a small smile, wanting nothing more than to reach out and touch her. Hug her, something. But, he'd do well to remember that this woman could break him in half if she so pleased. And she had every right to.
