Budget spending must be agreed by Congress before Tuesday, to prevent a shutdown which could force federal employees to take unpaid leave. (Read more: DC 'shenanigans' may cap stock gains: Bob Doll) Last week, major averages logged their first weekly drop since August with investors nervous over a potential shutdown. "Just as one arguing couple can ruin a large dinner party, the sight of a dysfunctional political process is an unwelcomed development for investor confidence in stocks," wrote Nicholas Colas, chief market strategist at ConvergEx Group. "If and when a government shutdown starts, the clock will start ticking on lower GDP growth rates and reductions in corporate earnings." Many government employees will be furloughed by the absence of a deal, and if the shutdown takes place the Labor Department will postpone issuing its closely-watched monthly employment report scheduled for Friday. On the economic front, he pace of business activity in the U.S. Midwest increased to 55.7 in September from 53.0 in August, according to the Institute for Supply Management-Chicago. Separately, Interbrand's annual Global Brands report ranked Apple as the most valuable for the first time, displacing perennial number one Coca-Cola. Disappointing economic data from China also sapped investors' appetite for risk. China's final reading of manufacturing activity from HSBC came in at 50.2 in September, lower from a preliminary reading of 51.2 earlier this month. Still, the data was higher from August's 50.1 reading. The Chinese Shanghai Composite outperformed as the region's sole gainer, while Japan's Nikkei index closed down 2 percent. "This is as good as it gets for the time being. The data reflects the stimulus over the summer but don't expect too sharp an acceleration from here," said Frederic Neumann, co-head of Asian economic research at HSBC. The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 was down nearly 1 percent. The Italian blue-chip FTSE MIB index dropped approximately 1.5 percent, suffering its worst session in nearly six weeks. —By CNBC's JeeYeon Park (Follow JeeYeon on Twitter: @JeeYeonParkCNBC) On Tap This Week: MONDAY: Dallas Fed mfg survey, new Kindle ships TUESDAY: PMI mfg index, ISM mfg index, construction spending, auto sales; Earnings from Walgreen, Global Payments WEDNESDAY: Mortgage applications, ADP employment report, Bernanke speaks, Dell event; Earnings from Monsanto THURSDAY: Challenger job-cut report, jobless claims, factory orders, ISM non-mfg index, natural gas inventories, Fed's Fisher speaks, Fed Gov Powell speaks, Fed balance sheet/money supply; Earnings from Constellation Brands FRIDAY: Nonfarm payrolls, Fed's Kocherlakota speaks What's Trending on CNBC.com: Sweet! Date Posted: 06:41:29 09/30/13 Mon ..US shutdown likely as House Republicans amend budget bill AFP – 19 hours ago ....Email 0Recommend1Tweet0Share0Print.....Related Content. .. View Photo.US House Speaker John Boehner arrives at the House of Representatives chamber at the US Capitol on September 28, 2013 in Washington. .... Setting up a high-stakes political showdown, the US House votes Saturday on a Republican plan that keeps government open through mid-December while delaying implementation of President Barack Obama's health care law. The move prompted a sharp rebuke from the White House, which warned it was a step toward shutting down the government once the fiscal year ends Monday night, and vowed to veto any such bill. House Speaker John Boehner convened a rare Saturday session as Congress struggles to break a funding impasse that, if unresolved, would require hundreds of thousands of federal workers to stay home. In addition, more than a million US military personnel would remain on duty -- but with no pay. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Saturday slammed Republican lawmakers as "astoundingly irresponsible." "When you look at the greatest democracy in the world, the largest economy in the world putting our people through this, that's not leadership, that's abdication of responsibilities," Hagel told reporters on his plane as he headed to South Korea. "This is an astoundingly irresponsible way to govern." Under pressure from his party's far-right conservative wing, Boehner doubled down on his caucus's bid to stop Obama's signature domestic achievement, the health care law, vowing to send a bill back to the Senate but with little time for legislative action to avoid a shutdown. If Republicans vote in unison as expected, the House will approve a measure "that will keep the government open and stop as much of the president's health care law as possible," Boehner said in a statement. "We will do our job and send this bill over, and then it's up to the Senate to pass it and stop a government shutdown." The House had earlier passed a temporary budget bill known as a continuing resolution that included a provision defunding so-called Obamacare altogether. The Democratic-led Senate stripped that part out and sent a clean stopgap measure back to the House. But instead of passing it, the House plans to amend the bill with a one-year delay of the health care law and repeal of an unpopular medical device tax. While conservative lawmakers hailed the move, the White House slammed it. "Today, Republicans in the House of Representatives moved to shut down the government," spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement just hours before the vote. "Any member of the Republican Party who votes for this bill is voting for a shutdown. " In a separate statement, the White House Office of Management and Budget warned that "if the President was presented with H.J. Res 59, as amended by these amendments, he would veto the bill." A furious Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, meanwhile, attacked the move as "pointless" brinkmanship that could end in economic crisis. "To be absolutely clear, the Senate will reject both the one-year delay of the Affordable Care Act and the repeal of the medical device tax," Reid said. "The American people will not be extorted by Tea Party anarchists." Driving the point home, a Senate Democratic aide said it was highly unlikely the chamber would be in session before Monday. "We are not playing games," he told AFP. House Democrats, largely powerless to prevent passage of Republican-backed legislation in the lower chamber, expressed worry that the US government would suffer the same fate as a Washington deadlock in late 1995 that resulted in a 21-day work stop. "I think we are on our way" to a shutdown, said Congressman John Lewis, a 27-year House veteran. "We're closer now than ever before." Despite obvious recent divisions among Republicans over the path forward, lawmakers exited Boehner's meeting insisting they were of one mind in pegging an Obamacare delay to the temporary spending bill. And they charged that Democrats would be on the hook for any government closure, not Republicans. Boehner and fellow House leaders had struggled to stake out a position palatable to their divided members. A chorus of criticism -- including from Obama as well as some centrist Republicans in the Senate -- accused Tea Party-backed lawmakers of unwisely threatening a shutdown if they did not get their way. "How dare you presume a failure?" Congressman Darrell Issa barked at a reporter who asked what would happen when the Senate rejects the House measure. "We continue to anticipate that there's an opportunity for sensible compromise." Congress has less than 60 hours to strike a deal that keeps government open, but the ping-ponging of legislation is making that unlikely. As if anticipating a possible shutdown, Boehner said the House would vote on a separate measure "that ensures our troops get paid, no matter what." ....@y7finance on Twitter, become a fan on Facebook .......Top Stories ». ...Pulp mill project sale delay ABC Receivers of the failed Tasmanian timber company Gunns have confirmed the sale of the Tamar Valley pulp mill project … .. .Era ends, new chapter set for Washington PostAFP.. .Alibaba listing loss leaves Hong Kong counting the costAFP.. .Voters give Portugal's austerity policy first testAFP......AdChoices ...IN FOCUS. .Funeral Insurance It's never too early or too late to insure the happiness and comfort of your loved ones. He is the son of Audrey Peggy Sell, a radio actress, and Joseph Louis "Joe" Cranston, an actor and Hollywood producer.[2][3] He was the second of their three children. He is of Irish, English, German, and German-Austrian ancestry on his father's side, while his maternal grandparents were immigrants from Germany.[4][5][6] In reference to his upbringing, Cranston has stated: "My mom and dad were both broken people, and because of that, they were incapacitated as far as parenting. They weren't capable, and we lost the house in a foreclosure. We were kicked out."[7] He was raised partly by his grandparents,[7] living on their farm and working with poultry.[8] He grew up in the Los Angeles area, where he graduated from Canoga Park High School, and earned an associate degree in police science from Los Angeles Valley College in 1976.[9] Career[edit]Cranston began his acting career after college in local and regional theaters, getting his start at the Granada Theater in the San Fernando Valley. He had previously performed as a youth, but his show business parents had mixed feelings about their son being involved in the profession, so he did not continue until years later.[3] He has worked regularly since the late 1980s, mostly in minor roles. His advertising work includes commercials for Frito Lay, Excedrin, Honda Accord, Coffee-Mate, and Preparation H. His voice acting includes English dubbing of Japanese anime under the name Lee Stone,[10] including Royal Space Force – The Wings of Honneamise, Macross Plus, and Armitage III Polymatrix. He was an original cast member of the ABC soap opera Loving, where he played Douglas Donovan from 1983 to 1985.[3] Cranston also starred in the short-lived series Raising Miranda in 1988. His largest role prior to Malcolm in the Middle was as astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the HBO series From the Earth to the Moon. He also played astronaut Gus Grissom in the film That Thing You Do!. In 1998, he appeared in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, as the colonel who insists that Private Ryan be saved. Cranston and wife Robin Dearden, September 2008From 1994 to 1997, Cranston appeared as Dr. Tim Whatley, Jerry's dentist, on Seinfeld. Several episodes focused on Jerry's paranoia about Tim in bizarre situations, such as when Jerry becomes obsessed with the notion that Tim and his female assistant are molesting him while he is unconscious during dental surgery. 1999 marked Cranston's second appearance for a recurring role; on the CBS sitcom The King of Queens, he played Doug Heffernan's annoying neighbor, Tim Sacksky, who at one point becomes a water purifier salesman and recruits Doug to sell them with him. In 1997, Cranston had a small role in Babylon 5 as Ericsson, the captain of a White Star vessel ordered into a suicide mission to plant misinformation within the enemy ranks. Later in 1999, Cranston wrote and directed the film Last Chance.[11] His theatrical credits include starring roles in The God of Hell, Chapter Two, The Taming of the Shrew, A Doll's House, Barefoot in the Park, Eastern Standard, Wrestlers, and The Steven Weed Show, for which he won a Drama-Logue Award. In 2000, Cranston landed a leading role as Hal on the comedy series Malcolm in the Middle. He would eventually direct several episodes of the show, and received three Emmy nominations for his performance.[12] Cranston reprised his role (voice only) in a cutaway gag during the Family Guy episode "I Take Thee Quagmire", killing Lois (his wife on Malcolm in the Middle) with a refrigerator door because of her incessant babbling, freeing himself and his sons. He has had guest roles in many television series, including a white-collar criminal searching for his estranged wife and daughter in The Flash, a lawyer attempting to free the title character from a contract in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and a bigoted man being driven insane by extremely low frequency sonar waves in The X-Files episode "Drive". He also had a guest role in late 2006 on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, playing Ted Mosby's obnoxious co-worker and former boss Hammond Druthers. He played Lucifer in the ABC Family miniseries Fallen. Cranston appeared as Nick Wrigley, an irresponsible uncle who accidentally brings Christmas close to destruction when he steals Santa's sleigh to have a crazy ride, in the 2001 Disney Channel Original Movie 'Twas the Night. He appeared as the more successful business colleague of Greg Kinnear's character in the 2007 film Little Miss Sunshine. In September 2008, Cranston narrated a pre-teen adventure/fantasy audiobook called Adventures with Kazmir the Flying Camel.[13] Cranston at the 2012 Comic-Con in San DiegoFrom 2008 to 2013, Cranston starred in the AMC series Breaking Bad, in which he played Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Walter teams up with former student Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul, to manufacture and sell methamphetamine to ensure the well-being of Walter's family after he dies. For his work on the series, Cranston won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in each of the first three seasons of the show; only he and Bill Cosby have won the award three consecutive times.[14] For the fourth season, Cranston also became a producer for the series, and was nominated for an Emmy once again. He had supporting roles in the drama film The Lincoln Lawyer, as well as the successful thrillers Drive and Contagion. He voiced James Gordon in the 2011 animated film Batman: Year One.[15] In 2012, he had supporting roles in John Carter, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and Rock of Ages, and a major role in the hostage drama Argo. He also lent his voice to several episodes of the animated series Robot Chicken.[16] In 2012, he starred in the remake of the 1990 film Total Recall, as Chancellor Vilos Cohaagen, the corrupted president of a fictional war-ravaged United Federation of Britain. In the same year, he made a guest appearance as Kenneth Parcell's step-father, Ron, on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, and was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.[17] Cranston has produced an instructional DVD called KidSmartz, which is designed to educate families on how to stay safe from child abduction and Internet predators. KidSmartz raises money for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, by donating half the proceeds from sales. After the success of Breaking Bad, it was recently reported that Bryan would be developing new TV shows in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television.[18] Personal life[edit]Cranston played baseball when he was a student,[3] and remains a collector of baseball memorabilia and avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. From 1977 to 1982 he was married to writer Mickey Middleton.[19] At 35, he married Robin Dearden[20] whom he had met on the set of the show Airwolf in 1984. He was playing the villain of the week, and she played his hostage; he held her at gunpoint. Their daughter, Taylor Dearden Cranston (born 1993), is a theatre studies student at the University of Southern California and played an extra in one of the Breaking Bad episodes directed by her father.[21] In accepting his third Emmy as Best Lead Actor in a Drama, Cranston thanked his wife and daughter and told them that he loves them "more than baseball". He resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when filming Breaking Bad.[22] He is a part-owner of the independent theater Cinemas Palme d'Or in Palm Desert, California.[23] He is a strong supporter of LGBT rights, supporting same sex marriage in the United States.[24] In 2010, he designed a house for himself.[25] Filmography[edit] |

"It's going to be a bit of a touch session," said Art Cashin, director of floor operations at UBS Financial Services. "It looks like we're going to have a [government] showdown on Monday and a showdown on Monday is a problem for traders and portfolio managers as it's the end of the quarter." The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, traded near 14. Most key S&P sectors opened in the red, dragged by materials and industrials. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, (D-FL); Bob Shrum, Democratic strategist, and Joe Watkins, Republican strategist, discuss the likely fallout from a government shutdown and delaying the Affordable Care Act.On the economic front, consumer sentiment fell to 77.5 in September, hitting its lowest in nearly five months, according to the Thomson Reuters/Unversity of Michigan's final reading on the overall index. The reading lower than the 78.0 economists had expected in a Reuters poll, but still higher than a mid-month preliminary reading of 76.8. And household spending ticked up 0.3 percent in August, according to the Commerce Department. Budget spending must be agreed by Congress before October 1, next Tuesday, to prevent a government shutdown which could involve federal employees facing unpaid temporary leave and a delay in the payment of military personnel. Most analysts expect a deal to be reached, even if it is at the last minute, since lawmakers are unlikely to want to risk any fallout at the 2014 Congressional elections. The Senate will vote on Friday on a stop-gap spending bill which will exclude the healthcare defunding provision that was passed in the House of Representatives, which will essentially mean the bill going back to the House in its changed format for further consideration. "A shutdown of a few days would probably have little impact (although perhaps no non-farm payrolls report next Friday!) but of course the longer the shutdown the more negative it becomes. For sure, the uncertainty and the debt ceiling aspect is probably already causing delays to business decisions. Given the perception in the U.S. that the Republicans are more to blame for congressional gridlock we expect them to blink first," said Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi's Derek Halpenny in a research note. The pullback came after gains in the U.S. overnight. Major benchmarks managed to snap a five-day losing streak, with sentiment boosted by positive economic data and reassurances from Republicans that they would not cause the government to shut down over the debt battle. Meanwhile, the debt ceiling must also be extended to allow the Treasury to continue borrowing money and honor its debt repayments. Reuters reported on Wednesday that Senior Republican Jeff Sessions said there would be no shutdown or government default. House speaker John Boehner said a Republican proposal was coming that would tie federal government spending cuts to a U.S. debt limit increase. In 2010, she became the second artist to both top the BBC's annual Sound of... poll and win the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year, following Adele's win of both in 2008. After signing to Polydor Records in 2009, she released her first EP in 2009, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding.[2] Goulding released her debut studio album, Lights, in 2010. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. Her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" reached number two in the UK in December 2010, and on 29 April 2011, however charted at number one on iTunes for three weeks. She performed the song at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Buckingham Palace. The album's title track, "Lights", was released in the US in March 2011, and reached its peak position of number one on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, number one in the Billboard On-Demand chart, and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 nearly a year and a half later during its thirty-third week charting, completing one of the longest ever climbs into the top two positions on the chart. The single, which lasted over a year on the Billboard Hot 100, was also certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[3][4] Goulding's second album Halcyon was released in October 2012 to generally positive reviews from critics.[5] "Anything Could Happen" preceded the album as the lead single, reaching the top five in the UK as well as the top twenty in Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. Halcyon debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and number nine on the Billboard 200 Chart, her first Top 10 debut in the United States. The album also reached the top five in New Zealand, top ten in Ireland and Canada, and top twenty in Australia. In August 2013, she scored her first UK number one single with "Burn". The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 61.33 points, or 0.4%, to 15273.26, marking its longest string of losses since the six-session stretch ended Aug. 21. The S&P 500 index shed 4.65 points, or 0.3%, to 1692.77, its fifth consecutive loss, and the Nasdaq Composite Index lost 7.16 points, or 0.2%, to 3761.10. The S&P 500 has slid 1.9% since it closed at a record high of 1725.52 last Wednesday following the Federal Reserve's surprise decision to keep its $85-billion-a-month bond-purchasing program intact. "We've had a huge move in the market for the quarter," said Andrew Slimmon, managing director with Morgan Stanley Global Investment Solutions, which manages $2.4 billion. "I don't think a lot of fresh cash is coming in. We're just in a holding pattern." The index has gained 5.4% in the third quarter and 19% so far this year. As the end of the month approaches, money managers are taking a microscope to their portfolios to prepare for earnings season and booking some profits. "It's healthy we're getting this pullback," said Hank Smith, chief investment officer of Haverford Trust, which manages around $7 billion. "A week or two ago, it felt like if you were putting money to work, you were chasing the market." The Dow industrials extended losses in slow afternoon trading after Bloomberg reported that unsold merchandise was piling up at component Wal-Mart Stores Inc., leading the big-box retailer to cut its orders from suppliers. A spokesperson for the retailer later called the report "misleading." After a sharp initial drop, the stock recovered some of its losses, though it remained the biggest decliner in the Dow, falling 1.5%. It also weighed on consumer staples sector, which was among the biggest decliners in the S&P 500, off 0.7%. Tense budget negotiations in Washington also are weighing on stock benchmarks. Senate Democrats said they would support a six-week federal-funding extension, which is a month shorter than the bill passed by the Republican-controlled House. That created another hurdle for Congress to clear to avoid a government shutdown, as funding runs out on Sept. 30. Debates over the debt ceiling are a greater point of concern for investors. The U.S. Treasury Department said Wednesday it had until Oct. 17 before it would exhaust emergency measures to avoid falling behind on obligations. But Mr. Smith said he expects lawmakers to come through with a deal to avoid default, as in previous debt-ceiling debates. "We're not going to default, it's just inflammatory rhetoric," he said. "We've seen this before." A pair of better-than-expected economic reports helped stem losses. Durable-goods orders for August edged up 0.1% from July, despite expectations of a 0.6% drop. Sales of new homes rebounded by more than forecast in August, rising 7.9%, while economists expected a 6.6% increase. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note edged down to 2.615% from 2.650%, where it settled Tuesday. European markets were broadly lower. The Stoxx Europe 600 closed down 0.1%, as extended weakness in U.S. markets and a surprise drop in French business sentiment offset upbeat news on consumer sentiment in Germany. The French business-sentiment index for September fell to 97 from 98 in August, versus expectations of a rise to 99. Meanwhile, GfK's German consumer-sentiment indicator for October rose slightly more than expected. Asian markets were mostly lower. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average lost 0.8% in response to a stronger yen. China's Shanghai Composite declined 0.4%. Crude-oil futures shed 0.5% to settle at $102.66 a barrel, its fifth straight session of declines. Gold futures gained 1.5% to $1,335.90 a troy ounce. The dollar lost ground against the euro and the yen. In corporate news, J.C. Penney Co. shares slumped 15%, extending a string of losses that has sent the company's stock to its lowest price since late 2000. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. fixed-income analysts said in a note late Tuesday that weakness in the retailer's business could challenge its liquidity levels. Date Posted: 07:10:11 09/26/13 Thu Expiration Cycle Filed Under » ETFs, Options Definition of 'Expiration Cycle' The calendar cycle of expiration months that is assigned to basic exchange-traded stock options. With a few exceptions (some options will have contracts in every month), most equity options are set up to trade with expiration months in one of the following three formats: January Cycle: Expirations in January, April, July, October (the first month of each quarter) February Cycle: Expirations in February, May, August, November (second month) March Cycle: Expirations in March, June, September, December (third month) Investopedia explains 'Expiration Cycle' Some options may have contracts in every month of the year, but this is usually reserved for highly liquid underlying securities, such as ETFs on the S&P 500. Options such as these are often used to hedge a portfolio and, because they represent a basket of stocks, the security is more stable. The strike prices tend to hold up better as a result. With single stock options, a given strike price that once seemed valuable can quickly become obsolete, such as a $25 strike price in a call option on a stock that drops suddenly from $27 to $15 over the course of a month. LEAPS are not subject to standard expiration cycles because they are derivative contracts that are one year or more away from expiration. |

Date Posted: 06:25:59 09/25/13 Wed Asian Shares Lower Though Apple Suppliers Rise -- 3rd Update 24/09/2013 6:23PM --Asia lower on continued Fed concerns --Rupiah hits 4.5-year low against the dollar --Apple suppliers higher on iPhone sales (Adds information, quotes, updates/adds market levels) By Daniel Inman Asian stocks traded broadly lower in an aimless session Tuesday, while the rupiah hit a more-than four-year low against the dollar. Stocks continued to come down from initial excitement surrounding the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision last week to leave its bond-buying program unchanged. That gave markets in Asia a boost on Thursday, though stocks have weakened since then. "There hasn't been any major news today, and the weaker leads from Europe and Wall Street have simply been replicated in Asian markets," said Chris Weston, chief market strategist at broker IG. Wall Street ended Monday lower as investors continued trying to determine the Fed's monetary-policy plans. One official from the central bank said the economy isn't strong enough for a pullback of easy-money policies. Another lambasted the Fed for poor communication in the months leading up to the decision. In China, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.6%, paring some gains made Monday after data showed the country's manufacturing sector continues to stabilize. "The global growth story is real, but probably not enough to give equities an extra leg up right now," Mr. Weston said. "It would be healthy to have a bit of a pullback." In the currency market, the rupiah dropped to 11,525 to the dollar--a level not seen since April 2009--as the greenback rebounded against Southeast Asian currencies this week. The yen weakened to Y99.12 to the dollar late in Asia versus Y98.84 late Monday, helping the Nikkei 225 index to end flat. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.4% with declines in local miners. Rio Tinto fell 0.8% and BHP Billiton declined 0.6%. South Korea's Kospi fell 0.1% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 0.8%. Southeast Asian stocks also fell, with the Philippines PSE Composite 0.3% lower and Indonesia's JSX down 1.8%, the biggest decline in the region. A number of Asian companies supplying U.S. technology giant Apple moved higher Tuesday after the company reported a "record-breaking" opening weekend for its newest iPhones. Apple's stock finished 5% higher Monday, and on Tuesday, Murata Manufacturing Co. gained 1.5% in Tokyo, LG Display Co. 2.2% in Seoul and Hon Hai Precision Industry rose 0.9% in Taiwan. Date Posted: 01:13:44 09/24/13 Tue From today's featured article In political philosophy, a throffer is a proposal that mixes an offer with a threat which will be carried out if the offer is not accepted. The term was first used in print by political philosopher Hillel Steiner, and while other writers followed, it has not been universally adopted. An example (pictured) is "Kill this man and I'll pay you—fail to kill him and I'll kill you instead." Steiner differentiated offers, threats and throffers based on the preferability of compliance and non-compliance for the subject compared to the normal course of events that would have come about were no intervention made, although this approach has been criticised. Throffers form part of the wider moral and political considerations of coercion, and form part of the question of the possibility of coercive offers. The theoretical concerns surrounding throffers have been practically applied concerning workfare programmes, where individuals receiving social welfare have their aid decreased if they refuse the offer of work or education. Several writers have also observed that throffers presented to people convicted of crimes, particularly sex offenders, can result in more lenient sentences if they accept medical treatment. It was created by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) in 2001, and is now recognised as the non-human animal equivalent of the George Cross. An animal can be awarded the PDSA Gold Medal if he or she assists in saving human or non-human animal life when his or her own life is in danger or through exceptional devotion to duty. The medal can also be awarded to animals in public service, such as police or rescue dogs, if the animal dies or suffers serious injury while carrying out his or her official duties in the face of armed and violent opposition. The first ceremony, in November 2002, saw the Gold Medal awarded to three dogs, including Endal (pictured), an assistance dog whose actions helped to save the life of his disabled owner. The most recent ceremony was held in June 2013, honouring Ajax, a German Shepherd. The PDSA Gold Medal has been awarded 23 times, and all recipients to date have been dogs. (Full list...) (May 2013) Central Time Zone Regions in the Central Time Zone UTC offset CST UTC−6:00 CDT UTC−5:00 Observance of DST DST is observed in certain regions of this time zone between the 2nd Sunday in March and the 1st Sunday in November. DST began Mar 10, 2013 DST ends Nov 3, 2013 The Central Time Zone is a time zone in parts of Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central America, some Caribbean Islands, and part of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Time in the zone is six hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time - GMT). During daylight saving time (DST), time in the zone is five hours behind GMT. The following Canadian provinces and territories observe Central Time in the areas noted, while their other areas observe Eastern Time: Nunavut (territory): western areas (most of Kivalliq Region and part of Qikiqtaaluk Region) Ontario (province): a portion of the northwest bordering northeastern Manitoba Also, most of the province of Saskatchewan is on Central Standard Time year round. Because Saskatchewan is wholly within the Central Time Zone, it is effectively on DST year round. Major exceptions include Lloydminster, a town situated on the boundary between Alberta and Saskatchewan where the town charter stipulates that it shall observe Mountain Time and DST, putting the town on the same time as all of Alberta, including the major cities of Calgary and Edmonton. United States[edit source | editbeta]Main article: Time in the United States The Central Time Zone is the second most populous after the Eastern Time Zone. Many states straddle time zone boundaries. Alabama: Although all of Alabama is legally on Central Time, Phenix City and the surrounding communities of Smiths Station, Valley, and Lanett unofficially observe Eastern Time, as these areas are part of the media market and metropolitan area of the considerably larger city of Columbus, Georgia in the Eastern Time Zone.[1] Arkansas Florida: The Florida Panhandle west of the Apalachicola River, bordering on Alabama; the remainder of Florida is in the Eastern Time Zone Illinois Indiana: Southwestern and northwestern corners, bordering on Illinois (see Time in Indiana) Iowa Kansas: All except the westernmost counties; Sherman, Wallace, Greeley and Hamilton Kentucky: Western half, generally everything west of Louisville Louisiana Michigan: The counties of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan which border Wisconsin Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Nebraska: Eastern two-thirds North Dakota: Entire state except southwestern quadrant (bordering Montana and South Dakota), south of the Missouri River Oklahoma South Dakota: Eastern half Tennessee: Western two-thirds; all of Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee plus Bledsoe, Cumberland, and Marion counties in East Tennessee Texas: All of Texas is in the Central Time Zone, except for Hudspeth County and El Paso County in the very far western part. Wisconsin Mexico[edit source | editbeta]Main article: Time in Mexico Most of Mexico—roughly the eastern three-fourths—lies in the Central Time Zone, with six of the northwestern states being exceptions: Baja California (Norte), Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Nayarit, Sinaloa, and Sonora. The states of Mexico that observe Central Time in their entireties: Aguascalientes Campeche Coahuila Colima Chiapas Durango Guanajuato Guerrero Hidalgo Jalisco Mexico Michoacán Morelos Nuevo León Oaxaca Puebla Querétaro Quintana Roo San Luis Potosí Tabasco Tamaulipas Tlaxcala Veracruz Yucatán Zacatecas Mexico City, which is coterminous with the Federal District (Distrito Federal), also uses Central Time. In Nayarit, however, only the municipality of Bahia de Banderas uses Central Time. Central America and Caribbean Islands[edit source | editbeta]Eastern Pacific islands and other areas[edit source | editbeta]Central Daylight Time[edit source | editbeta]Daylight saving time (DST) is in effect in much of the Central time zone between mid-March and early November. The modified time is called Central Daylight Time (CDT) and is UTC−5. In Canada, Saskatchewan does not observe a time change. One reason that Saskatchewan does not take part in a time change is that, geographically, the entire province is closer to the Mountain Time Zone's meridian. The province elected to move onto "permanent" daylight saving by being part of the Central Time Zone. The only exception is the region immediately surrounding the Saskatchewan side of the biprovincial city of Lloydminster, which has chosen to use Mountain Time with DST, synchronizing its clocks with those of Alberta. In those areas of the Canadian and American time zones that observe DST, beginning in 2007, the local time changes at 02:00 local standard time to 03:00 local daylight time on the second Sunday in March and returns at 02:00 local daylight time to 01:00 local standard time on the first Sunday in November. Mexico decided not to go along with this change and observes their horario de verano from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. In December 2009, the Mexican Congress allowed ten border cities, eight of which are in states that observe Central Time, to adopt the U.S. daylight time schedule effective in 2010. Date Posted: 04:06:24 09/23/13 Mon GMT GMT stands for Greenwich Mean (or Meridian) Time and is the average time that the earth takes to rotate from noon-to-noon. The use of Greenwich Meantime (GMT) began at 3pm on 25 September 1676, when two very accurate clocks were set in motion at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, England. Greenwich Mean Time became standard for England; in 1884 it became standard for the world. In the UK, GMT is the official time only during winter; during summer (March to October) British Summer Time (BST) is used. At the Greenwich Observatory, the Shepherd clock was installed in about 1852. This was the first clock to show Greenwich Mean Time to the public. When do we change our clocks from GMT to BST? Date Posted: 00:41:58 09/23/13 Mon Trading volume was heavier than usual as Friday marked the event known as "quadruple witching," when stock index futures, stock index options, stock options and single stock futures all expire on the same day. Trading increases as investors replace or repurchase existing contracts. In addition to the quadruple witching, all three major US stock indexes, as well as the FTSE and US index trackers, rebalanced their portfolios to match revisions to index weights. This happened at the close of trading, and helped push trading volume higher as transactions jump at the exact close. About 8.43 billion shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE MKT and Nasdaq, was well above the daily average volume of 6.25 billion. |

On the economic front today, the Reserve Bank board minutes were issued from the Feb 5 meeting. The minutes have essentially highlighted the fact the RBA seems comfortable to keep rates on hold for the time being. The market is only factoring in a 25 per cent chance of a rate cut in March. CommSec Economist, Savanth Sebastian said that "...it was hardly a surprise that there wasn't anything significantly new in the minutes of the last Reserve Bank Board meeting. Especially considering that with the decision to keep interest rates on hold in early February we had the accompanying statement, and since then we have had the release of the Statement on Monetary Policy and also a speech by Reserve Bank Assistant Governor Kent in the last two weeks. If anything the minutes tend to confirm the view portrayed just over a week ago, when the Reserve Bank released its latest growth and inflation forecasts." He went on to say that "In fact the urgency to cut interest rates in coming months has lessened, despite the modest downgrades to medium term growth forecasts fleshed out in the Monetary Policy Statement. Interest rate sensitive parts of the economy had shown signs of responding to the rate cuts, resource exports had recorded a strong boost, commodity prices have also lifted, while the pickup in share markets, lift in house prices and a modest improvement in confidence should provide policymakers with a degree of comfort." The major Asian markets are now trading normally again after interrupted trade last week due to the Lunar New Year celebrations. Japan's Nikkei rose by 2.09 per cent today, while shares in China and Hong Kong eased by around 0.3 per cent. Looking ahead, the latest ZEW Economic Sentiment reading will be issued in Germany at 9pm (AEDT). These are the results of a survey of around 275 German institutional investors and analysts which asks respondents to rate the relative 6-month economic outlook for Germany. This is considered an important reading due to the standing of Germany in the Eurozone. American markets will be trading for the first time this week tonight following yesterday's President's Day public holiday. The National Association of Home Builders will issue its activity index for February tonight. This is based on a survey of around 900 home builders, asking questions relating to the future outlook for home sales. Volume of shares traded came in at 2.01 billion today, worth just $6.35 billion. 480 shares were up, 531 were weaker and 360 ended unchanged. At 4.30pm (AEDT) on the Sydney Futures Exchange, the ASX24 futures contract is down 0.14 per cent or 7 pts to 5053. Due to the end of daylight savings in Europe, most major European markets are now trading between 7pm (AEDT) and 3.30am (AEDT). Futures are currently pointing to a slight rise at the start of trade tonight in Europe. U.S futures are also pointing to a modest rise on the open tonight. Due to the start of daylight savings in Australia and its end in the U.S, American markets will now be trading between 1.30am (AEDT) and 8am (AEDT). Turning to currencies, the Australian dollar (AUD) gained some ground against the greenback throughout the day and buys US103.3 cents, is trading at £66.7 pence and €77.3 cents. Australia is a commodity based economy, with commodities in general accounting for almost 80 pct of all our exports over the past nine months. In essence, when the going gets tough globally, there is fear of less demand for our commodities, which tends to result in a weaker AUD. In the biggest Dow Index changes in nearly a decade, Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA), Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ), and Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC) are being dumped from the closely watched 30-stock index. Athletic gear maker Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) steps into the place of Alcoa, a Dow component for 54 years. Payments company Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) will unseat HP, which joined the blue-chip benchmark in 1997. And Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) replaces BofA, which joined the index five years ago. The Dow changes take effect with the close of trading on Sept. 20. The last time a Dow shake-up caused such a stir was in April 2004, when AT&T (NYSE: T), Eastman Kodak (currently in bankruptcy proceedings), and International Paper Co. (NYSE: IP) were removed and replaced with American International Group Inc. (NYSE: AIG), Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE), and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ). Created in 1897, the Dow has undergone a number of changes since its inception. General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) is the sole surviving original member. The Dow is up roughly 15% year to date - with no help from the three companies that were just shown the door... Why Companies Get Removed from the Dow According to a statement from S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC, the company that oversees the Dow, the changes "were prompted by the low stock price of the three companies slated for removal and the Index Committee's desire to diversify the sector and industry group representations of the index." Unlike other indexes, which are weighted by members' market cap, the Dow is a price-weighted index. That means the greater the stock price, the greater the sway for a particular component (and thus the index) and vice versa. So, the index aims not to keep too many low or very high priced stocks among its members. Given that explanation, Alcoa, BofA, and HP's dismissals appear warranted. Alcoa, trading around $8.08, is down from $40 in 2007. Its elimination is especially symbolic. The aluminum company joined the Dow in 1959. For decades, its quarterly financial reports traditionally kicked off earnings season. HP, at $22.36, is less than half the $50 it was trading at in 2010. An attempt at a turnaround, overshadowed by the revolving door in its chief executive officer's office, has been slow going. When added to the Dow in 1997, it was only the second computer company in the Dow (after IBM). Bank of America, at $14.48, is down from $50 in 2007. It became a Dow member in November 2008. Since the financial crisis, BofA has been plagued with lawsuits stemming from its mortgage dealings, and it has been trimming business units. The Dow newbies, each industry standouts, also reflect a changing economic landscape... Visa shares have been on a tear, and the company is growing on the strength of new payment technology. Nike continues to grow revenue and shareholder value thanks to a loyal worldwide following. And Goldman recently reported that earnings doubled in the latest quarter. The Dow changes are likely to bring greater movement in the benchmark when the new components are seeded. The three heavyweights, known to make big moves up and down, are replacing a much less volatile trio. But there's good news in these Dow changes for those investing in these rejected stocks... Dow Changes and Share Prices While getting booted from the Dow might be an ego bruiser, it just might turn out to be fruitful misfortune. According to an in-depth study by renowned finance professor Jeremy Siegel of the esteemed Wharton University, stocks that were kicked out of the broad-based S&P 500 Index, on average, outperformed the additions. Siegel's research measured all additions and deletion going back to the S&P's creation in March 1957. The findings could be easily explained as follows: companies shown the exit are often suffering financially, while replacements are typically leaders in their respective fields. MarketWatch likened the Dow's historical rotation to the amateurish trading faux pas of "buying high and selling low." Following news of the Dow's upcoming dance, shares of Alcoa and HP were unchanged, while BofA shares were up 1.14%. Meanwhile, Goldman gained 3.3%, Visa soared 3%, and Nike sprinted ahead 1.53%. Date Posted: 10:16:30 09/24/13 Tue ............Chrysler sets IPO process in motion AAP – 7 minutes ago ....Email 0Recommend0Tweet0Share0Print..... Chrysler Group LLC, against the wishes of CEO Sergio Marchionne, has took the first steps towards selling its shares on a public stock exchange and becoming a publicly traded company. The Auburn Hills, Michigan, vehicle manufacturer on Monday filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company says the number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. It typically takes the SEC several weeks or months to review a registration statement. Marchionne has said he expects the car manufacturer will be able to conduct an IPO before the end of this year, but likely will wait until early next year because market conditions for stock offerings are not good during the holidays. Chrysler in January was forced to begin preparing for an IPO when the United Auto Workers' Retiree Medical Benefits Trust sent a registration demand to the automaker asking Chrysler to register 16.6 per cent of Chrysler shares for sale. In its statement on Monday, Chrysler said the common shares will be sold by the UAW Trust and the trust will receive all of the net proceeds from this offering. JPMorgan Securities is the lead adviser and, if the offering goes through, will be the lead broker for the offering. The UAW trust, which owns 41.5 per cent of Chrysler's shares, is embroiled in a legal standoff with Fiat SpA, which owns 58.5 per cent of Chrysler, over the value of Chrysler's shares. The public stock offering is a way for the trust to establish a value for its shares. If Fiat and the UAW trust reach an agreement on the value of the shares before the offering, it could still be called off. Marchionne has been trying since 2009 to complete a full merger of Italian automaker Fiat with Chrysler. Fiat, which Marchionne also heads, has been trying to exercise a clause in its operating agreement with the UAW trust to buy another 3.3 per cent of Chrysler shares every six months since July 2012 and has made offers for a total of 9.9 per cent of additional Chrysler shares. The UAW trust has argued that Fiat has not offered enough. There is a gap of about $US200 million between what Fiat offered for the first 3.3 per cent increment and what the UAW trust says it's worth. The UAW trust needs to convert its holding to cash because it is responsible for health care insurance for about 63,000 Chrysler retirees. The higher price it can get, the more sustainable that coverage will be. An IPO complicates Marchionne's plan to fully merge Fiat and Chrysler because Chrysler's shares would be traded in the US while shares of Fiat would continue to be traded on the Milan Stock Exchange. |

Hermine developed from a tropical wave that emerged from the west coast of Africa on September 5. The wave moved westward across the Atlantic Ocean, and on entering the northwest Caribbean Sea interacted with other weather systems. The resultant system was declared a tropical depression on September 17 in the central Gulf of Mexico. The storm meandered north slowly, and after being upgraded to a tropical storm made landfall on Louisiana, where it quickly deteriorated into a tropical depression again on September 20. Before the storm's arrival, residents of Grand Isle, Louisiana, were evacuated. Rainfall spread from Louisiana through Georgia, causing isolated flash flooding. In some areas, the storm tide prolonged the coastal flooding from a tropical cyclone. Gusty winds were reported. Associated tornadoes in Mississippi damaged mobile homes and vehicles, and inflicted one injury. While Hermine was a weak storm and not particularly damaging, its effects combined with those of other tropical cyclones caused agricultural damage. (Full article...) NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun said it could get worse from here: Rising mortgage interest rates pushed more buyers to close deals, but monthly sales are likely to be uneven in the months ahead from several market frictions. Tight inventory is limiting choices in many areas, higher mortgage interest rates mean affordability isn't as favorable as it was, and restrictive mortgage lending standards are keeping some otherwise qualified buyers from completing a purchase. Mortgage rates jumped over the summer as the market sold off ahead of a possible drawdown of the Federal Reserve's asset purchases. Yesterday the Fed announced it would not take any action, continuing its $85 billion-per-month bond purchases for the time being. Lastly, the Conference Board's Leading Economic Index jumped 0.7% in August to 96.6. Date Posted: 18:56:29 09/19/13 Thu Australia Shares Hit Fresh Five-Year High After Fed Keeps Stimulus 19/09/2013 5:11PM By Robb M. Stewart MELBOURNE, Australia--Australian equities surged to fresh multiyear highs Thursday, swept along with rallies across the region after the Federal Reserve's surprise decision to stick with its stimulus measures. Shares had been treading water ahead of the Fed's policy meeting as investors prepared for the central bank to possibly begin tightening its quantitative easing program, but instead the Fed elected not to pull back on a US$85 billion monthly bond-buying program. "The Fed pulled the rug out from market expectation worldwide this morning and investors are lapping it all up," said Betty Lam, a sales trader at CMC Markets in Sydney. "Investors have taken the opportunity to buy back in with surprisingly strong momentum for what was conclusively not such great news for the U.S. economy." Gains in markets across Asia added to the overnight reaction on Wall Street where the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at a record high and Treasurys posted their biggest one-day price rally since November 2011. The Fed's continued support of economic growth also buoyed commodity prices, sending oil and gold in particular higher. The S&P/ASX 200 climbed 1.1% to 5295.5, the highest close for the benchmark index in more than five years although shy of the 5300.1 level touched during the day. Gains were broad based, led by the mining and energy sectors. Shane Oliver, head of investment strategy at AMP Capital, said the Fed's quantitative easing is set to continue providing a boost to shares going into next year even through it is likely to begin tapering its stimulus some time in the next six months. "Underperforming cyclical stocks, such as resources, may ultimately be more attractive as they offer better value and will benefit as the global and Australian economies pick up," Mr. Oliver said. The Australian currency surged to its highest level in three months as the U.S. dollar fell on the Fed's decision to maintain its stimulus. Sustained gains in the local currency could put pressure on the Reserve Bank of Australia, which has already expressed concerns about the currency's dampening effect on economic growth, and would heighten the odds of further rate cuts. BHP Billiton helped lead a charge by mining shares, closing up 1.6% while rival Rio Tinto climbed 3.1% and iron-ore producer Fortescue Metals gained 2.5%. The rise in the price of gold supported miners of the metal, with Newcrest Mining up 7.9% and smaller Alacer Gold and Kingsgate up 17% and 16% respectively. Banks were also higher, with ANZ, National Australia Bank and Westpac up between 1.1% and 1.9%. Billabong rose 5.6% after the struggling surfwear retailer accepted a rival funding package from investors Centerbridge Partners and Oaktree Capital Management. "Continued market momentum will be dependent on flash manufacturing readings out of China early next week. An additional recovery story for the world's second-largest economy could potentially see maintained market interest," CMC's Ms. Lam said. Write to Robb M. It builds on a strong, cohesive and united opposition.¡± Stability and calm were Abbott¡¯s themes during the announcement. He said he wanted a ministry that would ¡°methodically and calmly implement our commitments and respond intelligently to the events of the day¡±. Abbott said he had attempted to avoid the proliferation of grandiose titles. Most ministers now have brief titles such as ¡°Minister for Education¡±. Most members of the outer ministry are designated Assistant Ministers. ¡°I¡¯m determined to have clear lines of authority and a back-to-basics approach,¡± Abbott said. The key figures in the ministry are largely unchanged from the days of opposition. They include Joe Hockey as Treasurer, Julie Bishop as Foreign Minister, Christopher Pyne in Education, Peter Dutton in Health, Malcolm Turnbull in Communications and George Brandis as Attorney-General. The winners from the announcement are Mathias Cormann (Finance), Arthur Sinodinos (Assistant Treasurer), Jamie Briggs (Infrastructure), Michaelia Cash (Immigration) and Fiona Nash (Health). Abbott has dropped six members of his shadow ministry: Senator Ian MacDonald, Teresa Gambaro, Andrew Southcott, Don Randall, John Cobb and Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, who becomes a parliamentary secretary. Andrew Robb has been moved sideways from Finance to become Minister for Trade and Investment. For the first time in living memory, the Nationals have lost the Trade portfolio. Bronwyn Bishop will become Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Father of the House, Philip Ruddock, who clocks up forty years in parliament on September 22, will be Chief Government Whip. Abbott said there will be 30 new coalition members. ¡°I can think of no better person to act as tutor-in-chief,¡± Abbott said, describing Ruddock as a man of unrivalled experience, judgement, insight and character. The former Whip, Warren Entsch, will chair a new committee for northern developemnt. ¡°Warren is the embodiment of northern Australia,¡± said Abbott. The ministry will be sworn in on Wednesday morning. The Administrative Orders, the document that sets down detailed responsibilities of the ministry, including the Acts of Parliament they will administer, will be issued after the swearing-in. ¡öDownload the First Abbott Ministry (PDF) ¡öListen to Abbott¡¯s press conference (41m) The First Abbott Ministry CABINET 1.Prime Minister ¨C Tony Abbott 2.Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, (Leader of the Nationals) ¨C Warren Truss 3.Minister for Foreign Affairs, (Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party) ¨C Julie Bishop 4.Minister for Employment, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on the Public Service, (Leader of the Government in the Senate) ¨C Senator Eric Abetz 5.Attorney-General, Minister for the Arts, (Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate), (Vice-President of the Executive Council) ¨C Senator George Brandis 6.Treasurer ¨C Joe Hockey 7.Minister for Agriculture, (Deputy Leader of the Nationals) ¨C Barnaby Joyce 8.Minister for Education, (Leader of the House) ¨C Christopher Pyne 9.Minister for Indigenous Affairs, (Leader of the Nationals in the Senate) ¨C Senator Nigel Scullion 10.Minister for Industry ¨C Ian Macfarlane 11.Minister for Social Services ¨C Kevin Andrews 12.Minister for Communications ¨C Malcolm Turnbull 13.Minister for Health, Minister for Sport ¨C Peter Dutton 14.Minister for Small Business ¨C Bruce Billson 15.Minister for Trade and Investment ¨C Andrew Robb 16.Minister for Defence ¨C Senator David Johnston 17.Minister for the Environment ¨C Greg Hunt 18.Minister for Immigration and Border Protection ¨C Scott Morrison 19.Minister for Finance ¨C Senator Mathias Cormann OUTER MINISTRY 1.Assistant Minister for Social Services, (Manager of Government Business in the Senate) ¨C Senator Mitch Fifield 2.Assistant Minister for Employment, (Deputy Leader of the House) ¨C Luke Hartsuyker 3.Assistant Minister for Health, (Deputy Leader of the Nationals in the Senate) ¨C Senator Fiona Nash 4.Minister for Veterans¡¯ Affairs, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC), Special Minister of State ¨C Senator Michael Ronaldson 5.Assistant Minister for Education ¨C Sussan Ley 6.Minister for Human Services ¨C Senator Marise Payne 7.Minister for Justice ¨C Michael Keenan 8.Assistant Minister for Defence ¨C Stuart Robert 9.Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Women ¨C Senator Michaelia Cash 10.Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development ¨C Jamie Briggs 11.Assistant Treasurer ¨C Senator Arthur Sinodinos AO PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIES 1.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture ¨C Senator Richard Colbeck 2.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry ¨C Bob Baldwin 3.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs ¨C Senator Brett Mason 4.Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer ¨C Steven Ciobo 5.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Services ¨C Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells 6.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment ¨C Senator Simon Birmingham 7.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education ¨C Senator Scott Ryan 8.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence ¨C Darren Chester 9.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications ¨C Paul Fletcher 10.Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister ¨C Josh Frydenberg 11.Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister ¨C Alan Tudge 12.Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance ¨C Michael McCormack |
