A smile of amusement crossed Salty�s face as Faini approached him. An odd question, to be sure. The others in her group, it seemed, had also realised this, and the onslaught of names and greetings were like a tide of words. He waited until it was over.

He liked this lot already.

The local gang, he surmised. All quite close�kids of riders�lucky them�

Stop talking to yourself! You�re doing it again!

Alright, alright�I�ll stop�

So what were they called? The girl with the fire-lizard was Faini, the boy was Graythorn, the red-eyed boy was Shadow, and the beautiful girl was Cara. And Korea was talking to some other people. Or was it Graythorn who had red eyes? No, it couldn�t be. He�d always had a bad memory for names. He would work it out later, and hope that it didn�t come up in conversation.

Slightly flummoxed by all these people � there hadn�t been that many his age in the Hold, he nodded to each in recognition.

�I�m Salty.� He said, aware of his different accent to these Weyrbrats. �I�m from a small Hold on the Southern continent, and�I think fire-lizards are alright. I don�t know much about them, though. We didn�t have many tame ones where I was � only about two.�

In answer to Cara�s last question, he smiled. ��Course I would! And I only just got here, actually. I s�pose you�ve lived �ere for a while?�
