Subject: Juli P - I love her too. She's not young, a graduate student actually but I agree she comes off that way. The dance just needs the transitions polished and smoothed. She has talent, but it doesn't flow from movement to movement. The dance costume says, "I'm not serious; don't pick me!"

In reply to: more 's message, "Abby Lipinski is a smart girl who comes off very genuine. It's hard to get your footing in the MAO without a traditional talent, or an exceptionally dynamic Her Story (like Madison taking off in a fighter jet). Dental hygiene is a tough sell, so there has to be some creative thinking & raz-ma-taz involved w costuming?, jokes?, a theme? "Be a smart mouth- brush twice daily". Start brainstorming. Julia DePenti is a breath of fresh air. I like her spunk & she has a fun dance talent. She strikes me as young, so is doing the right thing by gaining experience in the program." on 18:42:15 11/05/25 Wed

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, there are many reasons to compete, but I'm guessing she'll only win if there's no one more serious than her competing. Given she's in grad school, the judges have picked up there's a disconnect between her age and her presentation. I'm wondering if she's ever consulted a coach (that knows the Ohio MAO program). I think all it would take is some experienced guidance and quick tweaks (like you said, costuming) & she could win a local.
