Subject: There's a thread below about players who are not coming back that mentions Tristan Martin as a GPA casualty. First, if we were overall below 925, we wouldn't be able to replace him and would feel the pinch by his poor academic performance. Second, actions like that help to drag down our overall numbers and reinforce the importance of not only recruiting great athletes, but also good people/students. Plus, our overall #'s are good in comparison with most schools but it would certainly be nice to not see us near the bottom of the PL rankings. Just my .02.

It's a percentage based on 4 digits (1000 being perfect). It measures if a financial aid student-athlete 1)stayed and 2) whether he was eligible. They assign a point for each of these variables over both semesters and then figure the percentage for the entire squad. 925 has been determined by the NCAA as equivalent to a 50% graduation rate if continued for 4 years and, thus, the break point for future scholarship penalties.
