My take on it, and I can't say I heard the specific question that was asked, was that over the foreseeable future [my term] no Ivy League team or A-10 team was interested in trying to work out a game and not just because of the fixed schedules. That includes Richmond which someone specifically asked about. Maybe someone else can clarify further. This seems like colusion to me. Have we become that dominant of a program that every A10 Team and Ivy League School refuse to schedule a game. Now that what I have been posting for two years has turned out to be clearly true, that the Ivies won't play us anymore, this is the time to move up to the A-10 and full scholarship 1-AA football. I agree with the logic but I would believe Clawson should give fordham an opportunity since he contributed to our ressurection, and provided him his first head opportunity. In 2003, me,Javarus,Eakin had a discussion w/ Clawson about playing tougher comp. He told us that the schedules were set for like 6-8 years.The new schedule was made by Clawson.The old schedules with Brown,Yale,Harvard,and tougher comp was made before Clawson got their and based on the FU teams of the 90's he felt like that easier comp was the best way for us to make the playoffs. Rhode Island got thrown in there because the NCAA voted to allow a 12th game and we scheduled RI. Coach Foley reported that we had signed 23 of 27 recruits,which is awesome; cf. Lafayette 21 for 37 or thereabouts. We signed 2 kids who chose us over Lafayette. They credited the atmosphere and togetherness of the guys they met on the team who hosted them on their visits. Kids also impressed with fact that 6myn being spent on field improvements, etc. Staff has successfully addressed 3 key needs- offensive line, wide receivers and secondary. Targeted areas going into recruiting season were O-line, DB and WR. Targeted 27 and nabbed 23. Opening clips were of O-lineman, all OTs. Kids were rangy and Coach felt that they each could top out at 310-315 lbs. One kid in particular Sarabaez is Prepping this year so he should be a little further along from a maturity perspective and may contribute sooner than the others. He also showed good footwork for a big guy. The safeties are tall and can hit and the one CB (sorry, forget his name) had offers from Northern Illinois and one other fairly big program. Coach Foley reported 27 recruits came to the campus and 23 committed -- amazing ratio. The players and their parents each met with Father McShane, the Deans of the schools in which they were interested and Frank McLaughlin. The universal response to the question as to why choose Fordham was that the current players were so pleased with Fordham and NYC and were optimistic about the coming season that it was contagious.
