...discussions...have begun about the possibility of distinguishing Division I football programs without the use of the I-A and I-AA labels. One concept under consideration would be to distinguish Division I programs by scholarship and other qualifying criteria for competitive purposes only...

I like that proposal about counting one game vs. I-AA for bowl purposes. Would make it possible for a team like Fordham, Holy Cross, or Georgetown to finally get a game vs. BC or ND. The rules changes being considered here, if implemented, would level the playing field somewhat between Div. 1-A and 1-AA football programs and would help Fordham. Let's wait to see what changes are actually implemented before we get too excited. (NT)Rambacker22:23:44 01/17/05 Mon
