Substantial change has happened before at Fordham, and can happen again. Obviously money talks, but first the Board and President need to know our position on this. That's the first step. Change can happen, but it's up to us. That's the only way things happen at Fordham, and we need to get moving now to make it happen.

Money men need to be gathered and to start speaking. How do you think we upgraded football? (

That's revisionist. There are two men are responsible for elevating the program. There was no commitment for the first 3 coaches who were here. The first one was fired and the 2nd and 3rd guys ran out of here. The only reason we moved up was because we had to. If the NCAA hadn't mandated we move up, we'd still be playing Iona and pace. (

You get an "F" on your Fordham Football history test. Elevating the football program was made possible by the Visiting Committee for Athletics(and Bill Walsh), a group of very substantial donors($25,000 or more each per year) that worked with(and on) the Board and Fr. O'Hare to make the move to 1-AA possible. We are in the process of gathering a similar funding scenario for basketball. My prediction: by 2007 we have a winning basketball program that plays in the NCAA Tournament and a scholarship 1-AA football program. (

Sorry. Wrong "facts". The NCAA was preparing to mandate that schools with D-1 basketball had to get out of D-III football. The visiting committee provided support true, but had nothing to do with our making the move. I was there. Your predictions may be true. Doesn't change the fact without a gigantic facilities investment, we'll be just another mid-major hoping to get lucky every ten years or so. (

Incorrect. As a matter of fact, not even close. Two people were not responsible for our move up in football. There were a number of people that made it happen. And if you were there and think that the Visiting Committee had nothing to do with making the move, you were on the outside looking in and missed how it went down. (

So your saying that the NCAA didn't mandate this? Wow. I guess I was at a different NCAA convention. I never said the visiting committee didn't supported. I am saying they didn't drive it and if there had been the kind of support other schools get, it wouldn't have taken over ten years and 4 coaches before we reached respectibility. (

You made two contradicting statements. One was that two people were responsible for our move up, and the other was that the move was mandated. We could have stayed in Div. 3, but the Visiting Committee made it possible to move to 1-AA. Not two people. What's important now is that we're in the wrong conference. Fordham needs full scholarships at the 1-AA level to be consistently successful. The future will be very interesting. Stay tuned when new athletic management takes over. (

Reading is fundemental! I said two men were primarily responsible for elevating the program, as in building support so we weren't doing this with a D-III budget. Staying D-III was not an option unless we were moving the entire program down to D-III. (

Proper english is fundamental. By the way, fundamental is not spelled fundemantal. If that's what you meant, it was not at all clear from your statement. Div. 3 was an options at all times. (

You got me! No, moving the entire program to DIII was never an option. That would have required a decision and commitment to something. Not the Fordham style in athletics. (

You might be right on that one. (
