Subject: or they've dropped football (NYU, USF, Detroit). It might be time to consider new rivals, but the vibe I get on this board is that potential I-AA opponents are either below Fordham's academic standards, too close to "D3", or some other fatal flaw. Good luck.

In reply to: JoltinJoe 's message, "I had advocated here for a long time that we should renew the St. Mary's rivalry. A trip to Moraga every other year would have resulted in the team getting some attention in other media markets, and would have been a recruiting tool too. Unfortunately St. Mary's disbanded its program. I still think an intersectional rival should be considered, but with St. Mary's gone, one does not leap out at me. All of our great intersectional rivals from the past are still playing big-time football." on 07:25:28 11/27/04 Sat

What is the status of the Santa Clara program? (NT)Joe S. ' 5822:43:39 11/27/04 Sat

Our conference does include our two most played rivals, Holy Cross and Georgetown, and hopefully both the Crusaders and the Hoyas turn their programs around soon. Meaningful and competitive games against HC and G-Town would be something great. I like the idea of the three teams, each representing a Jesuit college, playing each year for the "Loyola Cup," akin to the Commissioner's Cup series played by the I-A service academies.
