Subject: Heard F Mc Laughlin on WFUV last night during halftime of hoop game.. he commented on ftbl team & upgrade of facilities field turf, night lights & scoreboard... He said work has already started..My comment is why hasnt FU asked for alumni input regarding these changes.. I understand can't please everyone but why didnt FU ask for recommendations.. Will new turf have a Ram head insignina at midfield? will endzones be maroon? landscaping near endzones? scoreboard for ftbl only (bring it closer & perpendicular to field)? If all this is scheduled where can alumni view a rendering?

Good point but it doesn't surprise me at all. Even if they don't want our opinions you would think they'd create some sketches or a scale model of the new Coffey Field for use as a fundraising tool at games and alumni events this season. They spend several million dollars and don't even create a web page to help build the anticipation? Another example of Fordham missing several opportunities to portray itself favorably. Don't know if alumni input is especially important or appropriate. A major donor isn't paying for the renovation. I think Fordham has done a pretty good job on construction projects over the past few years and I don't think Fr. McShane is going to let them build a several million dollar eyesore or something impractical. (NT)Ramadama10:15:44 12/03/04 Fri

The point is FU misses an opportunity to include alumni. FU sends 10 -15 mail solitications for $ each year.. Ideas and suggestions from alum could be useful (whether ideas were taken from other ftbl venues or experience) ... regardless FU could have generated positive fundraising momentum by displaying a rendering. Even if FU didn't include 1 suggestion ...it is poor practice to not include your alumni whatsoever...Lets hope next fall Coffey Field looks more like a collegiate stadium ..rather than a H.S. field.. The reason they did not ask for opinions re. the reconfiguration is that they did not want them or believe they would cause more trouble than they are worth. For example, thank you very much for your suggestion that we buy pink turf with a zebra skin pattern in the end zones, however, we are going in another direction i.e. chartreuse turf with a leopard skin end zone. No sequins, they would clah with the leopard skin. (NT)Jimbo6515:44:18 12/03/04 Fri

I’d like to see “FORDHAM” in large block letters in one end zone and “RAMS” in the other. Hundreds of planes fly over campus each week on approach to LaGuardia. It’d be free advertising for the school and football program. BTW, my brother heard the WFUV interview with Frank. He said Frank referred to Fordham alum and Iona radio announcer Gary Stanley as “Gary Shandling”. Anyone else hear it? Having never heard Frank interviewed before, my bro said he couldn’t believe he was listening to the athletic director of a major-conference school. (NT)ramMan19:46:07 12/04/04 Sat
