Gary, I think we all have learned individual ways to deal with those nightmares we still face at times, at the time that I was going to my veterans rap group, the VA counselor suggested writing down those things in my nightmares that were bothering me and to get them out in the open. Then too after reading Jackie's poetry here and at our Poetrypoem.com group I decided to try my hand at it to get those things out in the open and found that though I never thought of myself as a real poet, I discovered it was helping me a lot. So now after writing for over ten years, I am very deeply touched when others tell me how much my poems have helped them to deal with their own issues related to having served in Vietnam.
