Well, the Airport Management at Pease International Airport has finally succeeded in closing down the Pease Greeters. After nearly 15years of greeting troops has come to a close. Management is claiming the Federal branches are on them about lack of Security. About two weeks ago there were five Portsmouth Police Officers present for a flight but none of the Security personnel from the airport. No longer will the greeters be notified in advancs of incoming flights. We can no longer set up tables with coffee, donuts and other items available for the troops. There is no commercial outlets except vending machine for the troops.
We are allowed to meet the flights but that is all. This will eventually affect the Care Package program where the Greeters have been shipping about a ton of goodies to troops each year. Needless to say the Greeters are very unhappy about this. Hope all is well with the membership and sisterhood. Bud Owens, Binh-Thuy, 66/67.
