To vet someone is a hit and miss project. After 50 years many of us who can actually show proof might well fail such a vetting simply because we misremember. He is welcome to phone me at 360 293 8621 Pacific and I will report my impression. I would be inclined to err on the side of believing his claim simply because it would be so easy to seem to be inauthentic. I would rather see someone get accepted who is not qualified than risk the possibility of denying the request of someone who is qualified but says the wrong things. Anyway, just what is actually at stake here? What is lost if he is accepted but didn't serve as an Auggie? If possible try to match him with someone of the same time frame. I welcome hearing from any vet and always treat vets as heroes and old friends regardless of whether I know or knew them.
