Air Force regs allow for the wear of the uniform you wore at the time of separation or the current uniform. It can be confusing for current members as well when they see veterans from other periods. A member of my old guard unit was criticized for posting a photo on an SP Facebook page of his dress blues with the collar without the circle, but it was appropriate when he retired. Of course I also caught flack about mine as well as my old ribbon rack was bent, my collar brass had slipped as a pin clip was missing and my shield was on a plastic holder and was not pinned on the pocket. It had been in the closet for 25 years. I was told to get new ribbons, but I am proud of those old ones. If I ever wear it again I do have a nice crisp set of new ribbons and will make sure it conforms to the old 35-10 which was in effect when I retired.
