Subject: HOW DO SOME DELEGATE'S GET HYPED?

I must say that I am baffled. Overall, I think that this year's delegates are weaker than last year's, yet some of this year's delegates are getting SO MUCH UNDESERVING HYPE!

If you have gone to the Global Beauties site, you will notice that Miss Canada has been voted as Miss Photogenic...You will also notice that GB used the evening gown photos for the ladies who placed #2-#5 but Natalie's photo is an air-brushed Fadil Berisha shot that makes her look 1000x better than she really is. Miss Canada's evening gown pic is rather unflattering and shows us the odd shape her face has and that's why GB probably didn't use it.

Did GB base their choices on air-brushed pics or un-touched photos?

Here's what Natalie looks like without any air-brushing.

Compare this to Meriam George's un-touched photo.

Who honestly looks better?

Un-biasly Miss Egypt of course!

I am very puzzled as to how certain delegates get hyped. Is it their looks? I DON'T THINK SO. Just look at GB's Miss Photogenic! Is it the fact their photos are posted online everyday? Maybe their personalities...even though 99.999% of all pageant probably haven't even talked with them to actually know who has a great personality and who doesn't.

The objective of this post isn't to insult Miss Canada at all. It is just to question what makes a delegate "a front runner".

Meriam, to me, is such a natural beauty. With or without make-up she takes my breath away. Her facial features are great looking and the one thing about her that I always see in her pics is CLASS!

I hope Meriam doesn't take things like GB's Miss Photogenic or Top 15 list seriously. I hope she feels proud of how she is representing Egypt and herself.

And if it were up to me, I would hype Miss Egypt and let everyone know that they are missing out big-time.

To Meriam: You deserve that MU crown just as much as anyone else. When the Prelims come, leave the competition in the dust! Show the world that even though the over-hyped girls are favoured, that Miss Egypt is a force to reckon with!

[> Subject: well, Aiden, you know that every year there are some girls who get exposed than the others, I think the main reason is their fans and that is it and it doens't affect the final results at all, remember last year when Ukraine won the Miss Cyber Press and she didn't even advance to the semis? I hope this is the way it will work once again. but there is one thing I wanna mention, being photogenic doesn't mean being beautiful, it means looking attractive in pictures, and Nathalie looked attractive in her air-brushed pics.

Dear Aiden,

Miss Universe is not just a face, but culture, language, education, talent, prospects, concepts, initiation, creation and strong personality which are all out of Teenage Meriam capabilities.

It was wrong at the first place that she went to represent Egypt, so please be objective, as it is not a matter of courtsey, but a matter of a great country that should be represented well.

Safaa

The problem with MU is that it's one part intense preparation (which Canada certainly had) and one part luck. To become a FINALIST, you have to be very well prepared, or have connections (ie: Latvia was trained by Venezuela's Osmel Sousa). To actually WIN, it's entirely out of one's hands. Aiden put it well in his review; if the girl is not what they're looking for, then she won't win... regardless of how beautiful/intelligent/amazing she is. Look at Lebanon! She was one of the very best and didn't even crack the Top 15. Australia won last year because that was the desired market. MU was probably hoped that a suprise win would boost ratings. Not only that, but 2004 was really a year were sandy, wind-swept, surfer-chic was all the rage.

Now... who knows what Trump has in mind for Canada! Some say it's because of the Toronto building projects, but who cares?? I figure that the day Egypt wins, it'll be because of the US patching things up in the Middle-East, or trying to corner the next big market. Not that I'm complaining; it's just the way businesses work! That's why I was saying that it's best to concentrate on how well the delegate presents themselves to the world, and not whether they actually carry away the crown. :)

[> Subject: I don't think that's a fair picture of Glebova. There are plenty of non-airbrushed pics of her online better than this. Most of the MU coverage was full of candid photos of her! Everyone takes a weird picture sometimes... even Meriam. I'm not 100% satisfied that she won, but there's no denying that she's a deserving girl. Congrats, Canada!

[> [> Subject: Hi I am the original poster and the idea of the post was not to take away from Natalie's victory. She is indeed gorgeous, as is Meraim and the other 79 delegates! But as I am from Canada I know that Ed Domingez (The Global Beauties WebMaster) did help train Natalie Glebova and that he told a few ppl that he wanted her to win the prize of Miss GB Photogenic so they swayed the judges to choose her. This is not about Natalie's beauty (she looks great). Rather it's about professional honesty and morality.
