We'll just pretend it all did have to do with the Leonard Betts thing. ;-)

I quite liked this ep when it first aired but I was definately going by the assumption that it related to the cancer story from the week before. I may not have felt the same if I thought it was totally unrelated. It's hard to know for sure now. I loved Mulder's constant phone calls. How pathetic was he? DD had one brilliant expression when Mulder called her in the morning after knowing she'd had a date the night before and got no answer. The look on his face expressed this perfect combination of jealousy and chastising himself for thinking he should have any control over Scully's personal life. It's one of my favorite Mulder moments of the whole series.

I agree that Scully had no reason to be so picky and it wasn't like her to be so snippy. Interestingly when I was watching the new Season 8 ep Salvage tonight (I won't spoil) I thought I saw the same moody expression from her that she had in Never Again. Maybe just because we've been talking about this ep put it in my mind. But at least now she has very justified reasons for her attitude. Not that everyone needs reasons to be moody but as you say, it didn't seem like Scully in NA. Especially in how she talked to Mulder.

I would have thought her careless behavior with Ed Jerse fit in well with her being upset about her cancer too. But then with how she was portrayed in other eps like Milagro it seems to fit that "wild" side of her. At least that's how the writers like to portray her. I can't say that I particularly like her being that way.
