Subject: So what does Scully believe?

I think we're all in agreement that Mulder believes that Samantha was taken by the "walk-ins" and that she's dead.

But what does Scully think? What does she *really* believe happened to Samantha?

Here's what I think Scully thinks:

She believes Samantha is dead. However, I don't see her going for the walk-ins theory, if for no other reason because there are no bodies. While Scully has her beliefs, and has even seen things she can't explain with science, she needs proof. She needs to be able to base her theory in science. A body disappearing, taken by old souls, wouldn't meet that test. I haven't decided yet how Scully thinks Samantha disappeared.

I thought Scully showed remarkable restraint in letting Mulder achieve closure on Samantha's disappearance in his own way.

Here's a question. Somewhere I read that this was Scully's first encounter with CSM. But he used to hang out in section chief Blevins' office when Scully came in to give her reports on Mulder's activities. I don't think they ever spoke, but Scully certainly saw him.

Any thoughts?
