Brian played a Green Gretsch 25th anniversary archtop. He also played it for a lot longer than 8 weeks. I once read an account by a fan of one of his guitars falling off it's stand and breaking at a concert he did in the U.S. Maybe that was his Gretsch, and he borrowed one from Johnny for a couple of months after that? Who knows, but two months is a pretty short time for a guitar to get so many photos taken of it...even for one in the hands of Brian Jones! That's a lot of TLC to be shown on a borrowed instrument. He was certainly playing it in San Diego in 1965...I was there, so I know...and in '64 he was still playing the Teardrop. So if your friend Johnny loaned him one in '63 or '64, it wouldn't have been the same instrument...unless Johnny has his timeline mixed up.
