After sleeping on your friend's claim, I'm beginning to feel he could be right about "loaning" Brian that long-ago axe. Back then, bands were always exchanging instruments, and the Stones were known to have "appropriated" a Vox 12 string Teardrop from another band, and were never noted to have returned it. Both Brian and Keith were shown playing the thing.

Back in the Day when I was flying sailplanes, all the champion pilots were handed planes to fly by the manufacturers. Only the first planes they flew were actually their own, so vendors of guitars must "give" top musicians axes to "grind", as they say (giggle), and the instruments Brian is most famous for playing may not have belonged to him at all...probably didn't. He DID own that old Harmony that keeps going about the various auction blocks, however, so we know for sure he owned at least ONE he could call "mine".
