This is a very interesting letter. Its very Brian in its tone, and what it suggests is that Brian couldnt handle the drug sodden melodrama surrounding some of his girls, Linda and Suki being the ones that come to mind most. It could be seen as the pot calling the kettle, but more I see it as a fear of being dragged back down at a time when he had decided to get his own problem under control. Brian was absolutely no good in an emergency, he would panic, and both Linda and Suki took overdoses in my opinion, to get his attention. Sadly for them, that behavior was guaranteed to send him running. Being such a raging codependent, Brian was never to live long enough to realise that none of the girls in his life, with the possible exception of Pat Andrews, was strong enough and nurturing enough, to handle him, and from how I see it, Pat simply gave up. Codependency was not recognised in the 60s. Too bad, since I think a lot of problems would have been sorted had it been. However, Brian showed some insight by walking away from Linda Keith and her problems, and then splitting with Suki. Of Suki he once told me, "Im very fond of her, but shes just not the One," or something along those lines.
