I am not surprised. In fact, look back...I pretty well predicted this when Spike signed last year. What I find so very frustrating is (From the Season 7 DVD commentary) Joss knew damned well what he had in S/B and he was in favor of the ship and he did the cookie dough (aka lamest ending of a heroine EVER) at the last minute...because he needed to take Spike to Angel. And he needed to do it because...ANGEL MUST BE SAVED!

I don't know why! Why must a show be saved if it can't stand on its own merit and saving it will ruin your signature show's couple? I still can not fathom how a creator of a show as stellar as BtVS can make such an all around BAD decision.

In the commentary for Chosen JW goes on about S/B being "The reason we all kept coming to work everyday" and says "I intended to bury B/A in that graveyard...she goes back to Spike and they make love...and there is that instant tremendous chemistry" yet...he tosses the "tremendous chemistry" of JM/SMG away for NOTHING...he got NOTHING out of this...he lost fans! And in the end...Angel was cancelled anyway.

I am sorry...I miss the signature JW, perils of pauline machinations...I wish I could watch it still...I was a fan of AtS for years...I learned to love Angel and Co. and I thought the show was getting better all the time. But I no longer watch...I quit when everyone else did...at SOUL PURPOSE. It you wonder why AtS is cancelled...check out a major site www.spikeonangel.com

They were SOOOO happy that Spike was on Angel...they were NOT Spuffy fans...they were Spike fans...and Angel fans...and they were completely committed...and look...last update...SOUL PURPOSE. They, like I, just could not tolerate the show anymore. I am a huge fan of James Marsters. But Spike is wasted on Angel and beyond that he throws off the rhythm of the entire cast AND the loss of Cordy was beyond tragic for the balance of the show. Harmony is no substitute for Cordy.

The fact is...AtS never broke free of Buffy's apron strings...and all of that can be laid at Joss Whedon's door. He had no confidence in the show. And really...that's because Angel is a stock show...hero guy and his friends fight evil. There is nothing NEW here...nothing original.

Also, if you are still watching...you will have noticed how Spike mostly goes on about Buffy and how he can't let her know he's alive. He is all about "NOT TELLING HER"...the open-ended assumption here is "Buffy would care if she knew!" Yet...Buffy DOESN'T LOVE HIM...so this is not going to change her life...I mean...if Buffy doesn't care about Spike...doesn't love him in fact...there is no earthly reason why she can't know he's alive. It would just be a courtesy..."I didn't die...don't feel guilty or anything...have a nice life!" However, we go on and on (in four episodes so far) with Spike avoiding telling Buffy he's alive. Unless they intend to address the issue BIG TIME, this is just bad storytelling!

And then we have No Buffy for the finale...because...according to Joss, "Buffy isn't important to the Angel storyline! I wanted to concentrate on the core cast" Uhm...excuse me? That is damned commendable of you. And I agree...she shouldn't be important at this late date...but she DAMN WELL IS...because her lover is on the show this entire year...fighting with the OTHER EX and basically trying to avoid telling her he's alive!

I will watch the final two episodes...but I will not watch the "everyone in Rome and STILL not talking to Buffy...who is now dating another supernatural guy" one...which is 20...and should air on May 5th.
