You have named a handful of darts players that are overweight and because the players named are the most sucessfull in the sport, they are on TV the most and I think that's why people automatically think every darts player is fat. There's also players such as Chris Mason, Alex Roy, Lee Palfreyman, Steve Coote, Shaun Thompson and many more who could easily last 90 mins on a football field as well as 3 hours on the oche, as they are all fit lads who look after themselves. There's overweight golfers too tho, what about Montgomerie, John Daly, Calcavechia, Craig Stadler, Rocca, and a load of others too I bet. You wanna watch Major League Baseball once the season starts - there's a few in there who are fat - Along with Snooker, Cricket and other popular Sports. Basically what I'm saying is that Darts isn't the only sport where you see people overweight competing at a top level and yet it's the only one that seems to suffer with an image problem because of that.

Sport isn't just about physical ability, and people don't need to be top class fully fit athletes to be at the top of a lot of sports not just darts. I mean look at Fishing, Archery, Curling, shooting for example.

As for the hand-eye co-ordination thing... I think it's something that's a natural talent for certain people and these are the people who 9 times out of ten make it to the top of the game. I mean you can teach someone how to stand, how to throw, where to aim etc, but it's all down to hand eye co-ordination if they can actually get the dart to go where they want it to virtually every time they throw, and that's something I don't think you can teach, as it's built up inside you. A good example of this I feel would be juggling. I bet people with good hand eye co-ord could pick up juggling almost instantly yet those with very little or none at all even would have to practise hours on end, and even then may not be able to juggle at all because they lack the Hand Eye Co-Ordination factor.
