I see what you're saying and like most am under the impression that darts is generally a game that is played by overweight men who drink and smoke to excess. Problem is, you say thee people are "in the dark ages" and should watch the game. Every time I watch darts I see that overweight men who you can tell drink a lot are playing. I watched the Embassy this year, seeing people like Andy Fordham and Ted Hankey, both overweight men who are clearly drinkers. Similarly even Barnie is overweight. Even the Power is.

I reckon that if darts is to shed the image it has then surely the players have to make an effort. As it is can you blame people for seeing darts players the way they do? They are not athletic and even though they can stand the "pressure" of a 3 hour game under heated lights. Imagine Tiger Woods weighing in at twenty stone, hung over from being pissed the night before, turning up on the first tee in hot conditions [at say Augusta] and then even making the cut? No chance Pedro. He'd be out of golf before he knew what hit him. To play darts requires no physical ability.

Granted I agree that darts players have good hand-eye co-ordination and are skillful. I'd agree that you have to be skillfully more accurate, but think that to get to the top level in darts would be much easier than in the majority of sports. Simply because you don't have to fit. You look at players like Fordham and you know that if he wasn't playing darts professionally he would be on the dole. No question. He probably was before hand, and decided to set a darts board in his council house and play a bit in the pub when he picked up his cheque. What other "sport" can you succeed by being a lay about? None that I know.

Re: hand-eye co-ordination, do you think this can be trained and refined or is it something peopel are born with?

I agree that Vijay and Davis Love III know nothing. Nothing. Although they're golfers so they have to be given credit for that.
