I agree totally. When I first started writing sketches, I would mull over ideas forever, usually overthinking my approach. The result would be a bloated, five page beast that was more reminiscent of a short story than a skit. The best way to become a sketch writer is to write, write, write...and do it right away when an idea comes to you. Don't give the comedy that you're envisioning a chance to get away. If you have to, buy a cheap tape recorder and speak your thoughts, ideas, lines of dialogue, etc. if you're, say, not able to write it fast enough or don't have a pad and pen or word processor handy.

In the early stages, which most, if not all, of us are in with respect to comedy writing...I'd say try to pen out every idea you have, just for the practice of it, when you have the time to do so. And remember, this ain't a professional show we're putting on...we may review it like that, but the fact remains we'll pretty much post anything. So, work hard, practice, and post in order to receive criticism. I'm all for the sharing of ideas, but it's much better to get a rough outline of a sketch and then talk about notions of where to go with it, as opposed to just presenting an idea and waiting for someone to say, "that's no good" or "that's great, go for it".

The ol' adage is true...writers write.
