Alright, I'm finally getting around to posting this week's mock update, so fire away with your reviews and comments! There's no new show until September, so we're still dealing one hell of a higher hand. I'll catch up with everyone when I get back from San Francisco, and hopefully settled into a new place. Try not to flood my email box with new sketches until I get back!

- Stuck on a sketch, need help... -- Justin Kaplowitz, 12:34:35 07/30/05 Sat
OK, folks. I've never asked for help before, but Most writers need help from other writers, and this is no exception. It's one of those "It sounded great at the time" kind of ideas.
I have a story of a Detective and his Rookie cop attempting to book a perp for killing a hooker. But in the middle of the thing, the Rookie screwed up the Miranda Warning--I.e. The part where "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law"--The perp blurts out that He did it, but the rookie lets the guy go because he thinks the "Used against you..." Part means to listen to the opposite of what the Perp says. That much-- plus some back-and-forth between the cop and the Detective--is all I have, I can only strech out the idea for so many lines. and I have sort of an ending, but without anything in the middle, it's all but worthless.
Can anyone help me from turning this sketch into a one-joke wonder? I'm open to any suggestions, please refer to the e-mail address if you have anything to pitch (I'll give co-credit to the best idea/s.). Or if you think there's nothing to salvage. Either way, I could use a hand.
Just be sure the subject of your pitch says "Line Pitch", 'cause I have a lot of junk mail, and I want to tell the writers apart from the ads for Penis Pills, LOL.

- Long-overdue corrections to make -- Jim Bevan, 14:31:05 07/26/05 Tue
My "Hitler Coffee" sketch from the first Summer show, though well-liked, contained two errors that I regret not fixing, and regret even more taking such a long time to fix them.
First, the role of Martinez was supposed to be Fred Armisen's, but I put Finesse Mitchell there instead. Sorry if I caused any confusion. Secondly, after Thompkins discusses his failure with the mayor, Parker's full line should be "I had no idea the mayor hated coffee so much." The last three lines were omitted. Again, I apologize for any trouble caused by these mistakes.
Oh, Patrick, if it's not too much of a hassle, is there any way you could fix the errors in that sketch even though it's in the archives? I'd really appreciate it.

- Nealon On WEEDS? -- sharky, 12:58:39 07/21/05 Thu
Has anyone heard of a new show called WEEDS? It stars good ole Kevin Nealon among others (Elizabeth Perkins and Mary-Lousie Parker from West Wing fame) There is a preview at http://www.sho.com/site/weeds/home.do and Nealon's as funny as ever! The show is different from anything I've ever seen so it will be interesting to see if WEEDS gets Showtime an emmy. Maybe even Nealon!

For my sequal to Women's Synchronized Snoring, I have them at a summer camp like other sports where Jessica Alba is the camp counsellor and Joss Stone is an eager camper. Which path sounds better to go?
1. A "Snore-off" by the team and Alba and Stone against a rival camp (Gwen Stefani and her Japanese Girls)
2. A video showing the campers a typical day in camp followed by the team showing a rountine.
Please let me know which you think is funnier.

- Favorite Guestbook Post from the last season -- CCS, 02:59:48 06/03/05 Fri
Well, another season's in the books, and then once again the weirdos found the books and posted about them in the guestbook. Apparentally Patrick's 4 year old sketch "Patriotic Tattoos" is the surprise winner for most comments. Nice change of pace from "Harry Pothead and the Sorcerers Stoned."
But which response is your favorite? Is it the girl who thinks we actually met Elijah Wood, or the guy who couldn't figure out Kentucky (KY) Jelly? Maybe it's the guy who said we should hire him because given a chance he could write better Brasky material? My vote goes to the guy who bizarrely made it to college and asked us for information about "going against PETA" which apparentally is his assignment in speech class.
I wish there were more posts in there though. We used to get some quality wackos.

- An Idea/Question -- James, 18:23:12 05/31/05 Tue
I just have a simple idea, just wanted to post it to see what everybody thinks:
Wouldn't it be cool if you have a little section where the musical guests play and have a goodnights for each episode? Just like the real SNL, just have 2 performances by the musical guest by just having to host introduce, and then post the lyrics. For example, I'll use the Lindsay Lohan show:
: The Nucular Option
: Lindsay Lohan's Monologue
: Excalibur Escort Services
: Women's Synchronized Snoring
: Everybody Loves Finales
: Coldplay performs 'Speed of Sound'
: Weekend Update
: Full House Updated
: Going Beyond E-bay
: Coldplay performs 'Fix You'
: Goodnights
It isn't much, but it updates the episodes a bit, makes it a bit more realistic. What do you think?

Hey what`s up you guys!! I`m totally bummed that the nbc studios won`t read the sketch ideas bu I totally understand. If I was a writer for snl I wouldn`t read them either. I`d be too busy talking to the hil-AR-ious comedians. I wish I could`ve been a writer in the 80`s because the best people were on then. Actually I`d like to be writer now too. It was really funny when there were the guys like Will Ferrel and Jimmy Fallon. I`m really sad that they left. Hopefully their movie careers will work out for them.

Since Will Ferrell has been officially confirmed for May 14, I can now pitch this idea. For "Update", why don't we just have The cast of "Anchorman" do it all? Will/"Ron Burgundy" doing news, Koechner does sports as "Champ Kind", etc. I know it sounds either complicated or uninspired, but as one of the many SNL fans who couldn't stand Update this season, I think this could be something where we could just have fun writing it. As usual; it's just an idea, but I think it can be done.

Why not have a skit with Donatella Versace and him at a wine tasting? He's such a talented actor and Donatella's character would've been an entertaining contrast to his acting style. Pretty good special, and I hear it's due to appear on DVD also. Lots of great clips from when Weekend Update was funny (notice the shameless plug for Fey-Poehler during the opening credits?) I will definitely tune in for the first-ever episode in the Classic slot this week. What I wouldn't give for NBC to just air the first 5 seasons chronologically from here on out - a kidney, perhaps, but not my own.
