Yeah, it is weird out of context. It's supposed to be a sort of "what if" scenario, where someone thinks, "What if LOTR didn't win..?" ::screen ripples to imaginary scene:: Because by the time we reached Best Picture, it was so obvious that LOTR would win. I had actually started writing it before the Oscars on the assumption that LOTR would win. (This was basically because I know Seth Meyers does a Tobey Maguire impression, and because I felt Seabiscuit would be the most comically effective movie.)

I could have it be Colin's monologue, as in have him start talking about the Oscars, say "But what if.." etc. and then play the sketch taped as if it's his imagination. That's an old TV trick, but it would help place the sketch.
