Subject: A clarification on my criticism
In reply to: Jim Bevan 's message, "A clarification on Norm MacDonald" on 20:30:26 03/23/04 Tue

I realize that you don't like Norm MacDonald, and surely have some reason why, which you outline in this post. However, this doesn't change my criticism at all. I feel that, whether you hate or love someone, you have a responsibility to parody them accurately and humorously, and I felt that you didn't live up to this. You did do somewhat of a good job lampooning his dialogue by recalling some of his old bits, but otherwise, most any of his lines could have came from any person/character you wanted to portray as stupid.

I could care less if someone disagrees with me about Norm. I don't get fervent about nearly anything (except for politics, lol) that I personally like or agree with to the point that I'm going to bias my reviews of sketches because I differ with the point of the content, which in this case involves making fun of a dude's career who I thought ruled. So, to ensure that we're clear (which you may have went into this post thinking this anyway), my critique of you and Mark's piece had nothing to do with my like, and your dislike, of Norm MacDonald.

To each his own,

JPIII
