By the way, for anyone who's utterly confused, all the subject lines are lines Stephen's used to opened the Report, except I replaced "truth" with "review." Yay, themes.

Summer PSA: You lost me in the Home Depot/hardware store bit, I can’t follow what he’s saying. He doesn’t finish the first story. The Uno bit is better, seems more focused. The milk part is also okay. The best part is definitely Steve Carell’s bit.
I feel like the whole thing would seem a lot less random if the topics attacked by Colbert were really summer things: roasting marshmallows, camping, swimming, eating ice cream, etc.

Nancy Drew: Oh, Nancy Drew. My mother has a lot of the old books; never really got into them. I would just read the endings because they were the only interesting part. I seemed to prefer the Bobbsey Twins, god help me. And later, the Babysitter’s Club. (I’m talking in terms of children’s series; I did read some good stuff as a kid!)
And yes, the awkward and forced dialogue was very intentional. I do know how to write good dialogue, or so my teachers tell me. But in sketch writing I'm not usually trying to be realistic.

Dr. Phil: I don’t really know him, but it seems like you do have the persona down, as a pretty consistent patronizing and fuzzy kind of guy. I think it would work a lot better if Jesus and God were talking about the actual life of Jesus. Clearly you’re trying to parody the things these people say when they come on the show, but I think taking some of the real Jesus stuff into the kinds of accusations etc. these people make is a better approach for both satire and comedy.

The Basement:
AHH SILENCE OF THE LAMBS REFERENCE AHHH

*tries to calm self down*

Sorry, I had to watch that film for my cinema class...not the type of film I would have watched for pleasure, let’s just say. Also, Stephen did a segment on TDS that referenced the movie <strike>and now I'm scarred for life</strike>...anyway.

Okay. Now I’ve read the entire sketch. This is really creative. Barring the part with the SOTL reference, okay.
