Subject: I'm reviewing a week later and I'm still first... WHAT HAPPENED!

Wow this is probably the emptiest the board has been. Maybe I should switch to a backwoods hick voice since they know a lot about emptiness. Mmm-Hmm... board sure is lonely these days I reckon. Look at them tumbleweeds over yonder. I tell you what, them washington heads sure love bowling. Dem fellers down at the Saturday Night You wanted me to review that dang old episode.
Okay back to normal voice for the actual review of Hank Azaria's mock episode.

CBS News: Definitely not your typical Cold Opening. It was very weird at times and it just seemed to just go all over the place with the absurdity. I had a bit of trouble following but I think that was kind of the point. I’m guessing the insanity hallucination as a result of the hot temperatures was your point. Overall, it was still weird, but it had some funny moments. Especially with the Giant mouse and Rather’s Head melting at the end. I am glad you tried something different Jason.

Monologue: Well if you don’t know, I am Indian and I kinda wanted to put my spin on the whole Apu Indian accent guy thing. I never had a problem with Apu, never did get offended. I mean all races have their stereotypes. I always wondered how a white guy did the Indian accent so well. With that in mind I created an idea to have a non-Indian person use the “I’m the first Indian American host on SNL speech”. I used SNL writer/Lonely Island man, Akiva Schaffer as an audience member because he’s barely on the screen and he’s really funny in my opinion. By the way, Akiva directs the music videos for “We Are Scientists” so that last line plays off of that.

Ask Dr. Z #1,2,3: Dr. Z commercials are ripe for parody. Before I finished the review I managed to notice the third commercial. The third commercial was definitely the best one in my opinion. Germans getting exposed as Nazi was a hilarious idea Jim. His facial expressions would definitely be interesting to see. Way to use Hammond! The second one fell flat because creepy old guys is a stale gag. The first also was bogged down with robbery portion a couple of those car specification lines were great. Plus, I had to laugh when Dr. Z threw the JD Power and Associates award out the window.

2383: Jason this was a great idea and excellent sketch. I’ve been wanting to do a sketch involving time travel for awhile, but it would actually involve time travel. But the fact that he didn’t actually time travel was an interesting angle. All the lines about the accounting firm computers were hilarious, and the chameleon suit lines were a great way to wrap the whole sketch up. Great work.

WU: Pretty strong update in my opinion. Hank Azaria’s news character was pushing the plagiarism but in a good way. But it isn’t funny that Frink himself is actually a homage of Jerry Lewis. I wrote the uv bikini joke, the cold watermelon joke, and the Will Forte Beerfest song. BEERFEST looks like a great movie and it opens this weekend So yeah perfect promotion. My favorite jokes were Death To West-Ade, Joe Liberman, and

By the way... isn’t it funny that such an internet hyped movie did so average at the box office. Maybe next time they should worry about creating a good plot and forget about catchphrases and mind numbing merchandising!

A Moment with Hank Azaria: I’m sorry Mark, this didn’t appeal to me. I don’t know much about Huff or Oliver Platt’s career. Horatio playing an angry guy got old really quickly. Thank god he’s planning to leave SNL.

Summer Water-Park: I don’t why Jim’s name is by the sketch. Eh it’s okay. I’ve been wanting to do a sketch making fun of all those crazy car salesman on TV. I just thought that since it was summer maybe a water-park commercial would be more appropriate and original. I went with Armisen because you need a psycho midwestern accent and he has the voice range. Dan Aykroyd was brought in because he is the original pitchman, who could forget... BASS-O-MATIC! I had to cut out some stuff because it is a commercial and I didn’t want it to drag on.

Randy Mace: Not bad Jason. Definitely a absurd idea using a mace as a crimefighting weapon. It’s MACE MADNESS! The sketch started out strong but got bogged down with numerous injuries and next week’s preview which fell flat. However I did like the part about never being more sure in the chief’s life and the lines about using a can of mace.

Captain Lipstick: Solid sketch, Mark. The struggles and quirks with the Riddleman were an excellent idea. Riddleman’s crossword dressed henchman’s reactions were also good. PinkEYE now that’s a stupid villain and even he’s more successful than Riddleman. The copyright infringment jab and the heartfelt message were also nice touch. My only criticism with the sketch was that it dragged on a bit with the ball licking.

All right as a whole it was a solid episode. It’s great we’re able to move along with minimum writers. Keep up the good work guys, there’s one more episode left. I’ll be probably be able to get a sketch together. And if anyone else can review... that would be great. Wow I fell like record every time I say that. Must’ve been the 100th time I’ve said... “that would be great”. Take it easy everyone see you next week.
