Subject: The sad part is that it's not even my schoolwork...

I should make the distinction that although I'm probably going to be a major, most of the work I'm doing these days is for student theater, because the department hates me anyway. (I'm exaggerating, but it's a long story.) My freshman year (last year) especially, my schoolwork was suffering somewhat, partially because of my commitments to student theater. (Try taking the maximum course load plus stage managing twice. Actually, don't try.) Granted, you don't necessarily get academic credit for department work either.

In terms of writing (and work in general) deadlines are what get me to produce, which is why SNY worked for me, because there were deadlines. (And the lack of which is why I've produced pretty much no new material for Oberlin's one disorganized sketch group.) Outside of classes and organizations that give me deadlines, the only writing I can really do is mostly journaling. Fortunately there's a good creative writing department and they like me, sort of.

Because I'm not taking intro biology courses this year that are trying to weed out kids for the biology or premed majors (god forbid I should merely be INTERESTED in biology...) I've had a little more time this semester. So who knows.
