Subject: WHAT A HAPPY DAY FOR NOMINATIONS
In reply to: jennings (instructed by Patrick) 's message, "Start your Best Of Summer 2005 nominations..." on 21:46:30 09/13/05 Tue

Wow... what a day, I got my history paper done, I found out Steve Carrell will actually host, and my sketches were nominated! I feel awesome about all the positive feedback I’m getting. I just want to congratulate all of our writers for a job well done. But I especially want to thank Jason, Mark, Jim for writing extra material and contributing even more than normal in the summer. And I especially want to honor Pat for keeping up with the site now more than ever and I’m glad that he and his family are safe right now. My prayers are with you.

Okay let’s get going with this. I’m going to follow the format used so far.

The Best CO: It was a tough decision, and I’m going to go with one that really worked in my opinion. Probably one of the most clever slams at sponsorship. I nominate Hurricane Dennis Coverage by Patrick Lonergan, overall it was a hilarious news piece and the personal attacks on Loews and Home Depot were excellent. A job well done!

The Best Monologue: Lewis Black’s by Justin Kaplowitz-Excellent stand-up piece about Christmas in July. Very clever and it reveals how desperate stores have become. Loved all the bits and pieces and the fact that it was a solo thing just sealed the deal.

The Best Weekend Update: This was also a tough decision, but overall Ewan McGregor’s was a good team effort from myself, Pat, Jim, Jason, and Mark. There was an awesome slew of jokes along with two features that were clever!

I would like to take this opportunity and honor Mr. Mark Jennings Reese. I officially decree that Mark will be known as “MR. WEEKEND UPDATE”. You’ve been writing WU’s as long as I can remember. No matter how little news there was you managed to pull off decent material and in some cases you were the only one. So congrats. If I had the resources I would get you a plaque. But for now you’ll have to settle for a “mock” pat on the back. Or maybe a cyber high five!

And now the 2 best sketches from each episode of our Mock Season

Lewis Black: Coffee Break(Jim Bevan) & A Guy, A Girl, and a Psychiatrist’s Office(JP Ragan)

Jessica Alba: He’s Getting Away(Jason Dignard) & Buzzer Beater(Brian Grigg)

Johnny Depp: Fuhgeddaboutit(Jason Dignard) & 30 Days(Mark Jennings Reese)

Morgan Freeman: Bitter Regrets(Jim Bevan) & Minstrel Show(Jason Dignard)

Ewan Mcgregor: Let It Out(Jason Dignard) & Chit Chat(Jen)

Steve Carrell: Goldenrod Greetings(Jim Bevan) & The Actress(Mark Jennings Reese)

Thank you for nominating me, and congrats all around to everyone. This was a great season and a fun place for me. I am happy to be a part of this great site. Well that’s all for now. Here’s to a great new season!
