>If you don't mind my asking, Patrick, you live down in Louisiana, would you say that Nagin and Blanco's careers in politics are pretty much over now? Just asking.

Well, I lived outside of New Orleans in neighboring Jefferson Parish, but I've been reading a town hall forum for my former parish on a daily basis, and the consensus of those citizens is that the careers Nagin and Blanco, along with Jeff. Parish president Aaron Broussard (whom you might have seen bawling like a baby on CNN) are finished. Most of the people of Jefferson Parish are calling for all of them to resign. I don't know what opinions are held by the citizens of Orleans Parish, though I wouldn't be surprised if most of them continue to regard Nagin as their King. Given that their were Orleans Parish school buses at his disposal before Katrina reached town, I'd hold Nagin responsible for that boffo of a decision. But on the other hand, I think more people should have evacuated when it was given under mandatory orders. Maybe Nagin's a better man than me - if it was me, I'd have called for the mandatory evacuation and offered no shelters (due to the way New Orleanians tend to treat those shelters, either by trashing the place or stealing the furniture, re: Georges) and told everyone their responsible for their own safety if they're stupid enough to stay. Those truly unable to leave (elderly, infirmed) should be assisted to safety by those in charge, be it politicians or nursing home staff, etc. But, for the life of me, I can't understand the economic advantage of housing a city below sea level. You know, I'd sooner accuse Tom Benson of creating Katrina before Bush - he wanted a new open-domed stadium for the Saints or he threatened to move the team. Well, looks like we've got a partially-open-domed stadium now, but he moved the team anyway! If anyone had an agenda for building their own deadly hurricane, I'd point my finger at him!

>And again, your Domino's ad was hilarious.

Thanks! I might have made it longer if I had more time during the week, but I felt I was running out of wordplay on that one. I thought of bringing Forte in as a slice of pizza and letting the ending turn violent, but I couldn't find a way to force it in that direction. We had driven down a few weeks ago to have a look around, and I was surprised to see a Domino's employee standing on the side of a tattered intersection near houses with trees resting on them and waving a sign announcing their lunch specials. Of the few fast food joints open, they had limited "hurricane" menus and lines out to the street. I think even the Wal-Marts are closing before sundown, I wonder if Jesse Jackson can put a spin on that!
