Subject: Tentative reviews
In reply to: Patrick Lonergan 's message, "REVIEWS: Cameron Diaz 04/09/05" on 13:47:26 04/09/05 Sat

Given that Patrick said he's unsure if anything else will be coming, I'll be providing my reviews now, then critiquing any late additions. Here we go.

An Address by the Pope from Heaven - this was both touching and had a nice, warm sense of humor. Having his Holiness comment on pop culture issues from the Great Beyond was very nice, and he had some good lines. My only beef was that the Pope shouldn't have used the word "laid." Other than that, he did a good job slamming the week's major newsmakers.

Monologue - Very funny, far better than so much of the host/player interaction monologues we've seen this season. A nice blend of SNL trivia and humor, it was funny to see Chris and Horatio treating Cameron like a romantic conquest. The centaur and peephole jokes were great.

SNL Promo #1 - Good stuff, I can imagine Don Pardo taking all those boner medicines. Don's deep philosophical speech before the makeout and Kenan and Finesse's reaction to the sight were superb.

The Shelly Long Show - it was okay. Bashing has-been celebrities on public forum has become a staple, and since I am not a fan of Cheers or Miss Long's career, I couldn't follow some of the jokes. But her reactions were priceless. This probably would have been better if I could have seen her rather than just tried to picture it.

SNL Promo #2 - Eh. Not as good as the first one. I couldn't really find a lot of humor in some mystery man haunting the studio to ruin (or I guess from his perspective, improve) the show. There were a couple of good lines, though, like Fred's lamentations.

The Britney Spears/Kevin Federline Reality Show - This did not appeal to me at all. Sorry, but all the parodies showing Britney and her hubby as rich white-trash, jokes about her possible pregnancy, and stale jokes about being a dumb blonde have been done to death.

SNL Promo #3 - So-so, the attempts to make it dramatic by doing slow-mo were good, but I was a little disappointed to see that Michael Richards wasn't acting like Kramer. That, and Mark McKinney's animalistic behavior at the beginning made no sense. Still, it was okay.
